The Miandad 6 off the last ball v India and the Bevan run chase vs the Windies have to be there.
The NZ v Australia group match in that tournament, when BDK hit a six to win by one wicket. A crazy, frenetic match that barely lasted 50 overs on total.2015 semi would be up there.
The best part of this game was when Murali hit the winning runs, he went to take a stump as a souvenir but saw that Emerson was doing the same thing and noped out.Looks like ESPNCricinfo is doing a countdown on 20 greatest ODIs. This can be fun build up to the world cup. Their #20 entry is here:
The grudge match Sri Lanka won
Years of resentment and antipathy boiled over in a game where ugly scenes were trumped by a sublime Jayawardene hundred and a chase for the ageswww.thecricketmonthly.com
That was a great game. The weird two day nature of it added to the hype too.I expect the 2019 final to feature and would hope on that note they don't forget the semi final between India and NZ which was fantastic too
The CW thread for it is 151 pages
The 2015 SF wasn't necessarily a top 20, it just had the most crazy finish. The rain kept us in a game we probably weren't going to compete closely in.2015 WC SF NZ Vs sa
1992 wc SF NZ Vs pak
I think Emerson just wanted to make a name for himself tbh. I can’t think of another reason he would do it. Then when Ranatunga arced up, Alec Stewart bought into it from behind the sticks when SL batted and it was just a ****ing insane game of cricket to watch. One where you wanted the stump mics on the whole timeYeah, because were there actually years of resentment and atipathy driving this, or did it simply boil over because of a **** umpire?
Yeah, that game wasn't much special bar the AB knock. Insane innings, tbf, but worth a top 20 slot? Would have even put the afridi fastest 100 game in their. Lala atleast built a career of that knock and it was a much closer game allround.Berserker in pink: when AB went on a rampage
How South Africa's star batter made the fastest ODI hundred of all timewww.thecricketmonthly.com
Undoubtedly an incredible batting performance, but one of the best ODI matches of all time?
Agreed, that Afridi 100 might just have been the worst thing to happen to Pakistan cricket. The team was stuck with him for the next 2 decades.Yeah, that game wasn't much special bar the AB knock. Insane innings, tbf, but worth a top 20 slot? Would have even put the afridi fastest 100 game in their. Lala atleast built a career of that knock and it was a much closer game allround.
what a ridiculous playerThe one thing I still remember from that AB knock is the shot timestamped below around 9:15. An inch perfect yorker from Dwayne Smith somehow went for four, remember just laughing in disbelief when it happened.
Why try to shoehorn Sachin into every list? He just has longevity records. Few iconic knocks over 25 years [approx] is no great shakes.Few of Sachin's matches could be there. 143 and 134 knocks, the 5 wicket haul.. the match where Klusenar and Kallis turned a certain victory to defeat against India..
Kohli's knock against Srilanka, chases by India in Natwest series and that Kanitkar last ball 4..
Hope Tendulkar's 100th 100 makes the cut.It does seem that they've taken a somewhat broad definition of "Greatest ODIs" to include best/most memorable individual performances, whether it came in a particularly good game of cricket or not. I couldn't possibly imagine why they would have done such a thing.
That's some video game cricket ****. SKY and AB both have an insane ability to hit boundaries all over the ground, even off good balls when fully on. Way more impressive than dre russes roid infused arms mishitting a ball over a 50 metre straight boundary. The one thing I still remember from that AB knock is the shot timestamped below around 9:15. An inch perfect yorker from Dwayne Smith somehow went for four, remember just laughing in disbelief when it happened.
