Eng & Aus Docked Slow Over Rate Points 2023-2025 cycle

Molehill

no. South Africa have already made the final this cycle. They are playing six 2-match series (12 tests in total)

@ Home
2 x Pak
2 x SL
2 x Ind

@Away
2 x Ban
2 x WI
2 X NZ

They should win 4-5 at home and 4-5 away.

Worst case scenario is 8 wins out of 12 tests
= minimum 66.7%

(thats more than enough to make the final in top spot!) So Final would be SA v Aus or Ind
That would be a winning set up for most teams, but not sure it is for SA. I'd go so far as to say I'm not sure they'll win any of the away series, it's really not easy to win in Bangladesh, not sure Windies pitches will suit their seam attack, NZ are a better side than them.

they have Maharaj and Harmer for Bangladesh thats the best spin duo any sena team has right now

they also thrashed West Indies last time they went there the pitches there suit them perfectly fine

im sure NZ have never won a series against them in history. this may be their best chance as they will only face a SA20 rejects team but the power of voodoo may get SA a win somehow again

Decent spin attack yes, but their batting is horrific at the mo.

Home vs Pak & SL both 2-0
Away vs WI 2-0

Thats 6 easy wins.
+ (at least) 1 win vs Bangladesh.

Then they just need to win either twice vs BAN
OR beat IND in 1 out of 2 home games
OR snatch a test in NZ (against whom they have never lost a series).

to give them 8 / 12

SA have never lost at home to India either, so I reckon they have a great shot at getting 8+ wins

Give the umpire a bow and arrow, any bowler takes too long he gets a warning. After that, the umpire fires an arrow at him
Shoib Akhter & Dennis Lillee took most time for 6 ball overs

Umpire should gave red card to bowler so he can completes over much faster, indias Spinner Dilip Doshi & jadeja need 2 minutes 8 sec for single over.

ICC should change this rule for not only SENA country but for every full member test playing nations. Now a days india & pak picked 3 seam / fast bowler in overseas test in playing XL & win matches, Naturally SA, Eng & others sometime picked 4 fast bowlers in playing xl. No way you can follow rules all the time

Many time virat kohli was punished with 12 Lakh rupees of Match fees for slow over rate by icc when he was captain of india ( Kohli gets 100 Crore rupees alone in Advertizment so he may not hurts much with 12 Lakh rupees ( $ dollar 14,500 or so per single pennelty)

At home, home team have Adventage mostly. Sometime for example SL vs Pak at home, pak much superior team in each department than SL every year they struggle

We will beat SA now in dec 2023 in test

Trundler if the ICC were to try and improve the current penalty system for ODIs (extra fielder in the ring), do you think slow over rates in the World Cup should mean points deductions in the group stages?

It's absurd tho. Eng got bowled out inside 80 overs bot because of Aus bowling but their batting style.

It was England's strategy tho especially in a rain-affected match that if they make runs quickly it meant they got more overs to get Aus bowled out.
I know. I was just pointing out -ve effects of Bazball.
  • Their innings seldom lasted over 80overs in Ashes. Hence, Aus didn't get points deductions despite slow over rates.
  • Bazballing means Eng bowlers don't get enough rests b/w innings & fatigue in legs will ensure slow over rates in their 2nd bowling innings.
