Eng & Aus Docked Slow Over Rate Points 2023-2025 cycle

International Coach
No its for Slow over rate.

Certain overs suppose to be completed in Fixed time

Icc should remove this rule
So many other Factor also should be considered on docked Points.

Eng were docked 18 points are too many vs 9 by Aus
Yeah totally Australia ****ed up one test and England 4 - such unreasonable difference.

A team that has won 2 games and 1 draw is below a team with 1 draw.

It's a farcical competition with the percentage stuff.

The overrates were really bad across the series , hopefully it can motivate the teams to get their overs in.
Not a chance. England couldn't give a toss about the WTC and I doubt Australia care much either.

Need to start penalty runs for any overs not bowled come the scheduled end of play.

If you can have county cricket matches bowling 96 overs by 6pm then test teams should be able to bowl 90 by 630pm

I am fine with in game penalties as it effectively translates to WTC points anyways to an extent. The worry is how to judge deliberate time wasting Vs reasonable delays.

Sure the match referee can do what a football referee does and calculate the time from genuine stoppages i.e reviews, physios for concussion checks.

But at the end of the day were effectively being treated to 10-11 overs and hour instead of 15.

It's not only robbing the fans, but surely impacting the actual results of games. If an extra 50 overs are bowled in a test match that changes the result of the game in most case.

Give the umpire a bow and arrow, any bowler takes too long he gets a warning. After that, the umpire fires an arrow at him

But if you make the overs up they get bowled by part-timers I might happily sacrifice them.

Could combine with the other post match controversy and keep changing the ball for one progressively inferior.

Why does it have to be part timers. If cricket has always managed to be ok with over rates why is it suddenly now.

Hear so much about this whole too much cricket they play now.

I'm somewhat confused seeing as players played full county seasons alongside test cricket. As well as ODI's being played a lot more than they are now.

It's all a BCCI plot to handicap SENA teams that need fast bowlers to be effective!

Seriously though surely even those that (misguidedly) defended the concept of docking points for over rates couldn't support this magnitude of the punishment. Taking 19 points is utterly absurd and does nothing but destroy what little integrity the competition had left

Both eng & Aus docked points koz of Slow over rate

Eng Docked 19 points 🤣

England ended the series with just nine WTC points (24 for two wins and four for one draw, minus 19 for the over-rate penalties), and Australia 18 points (24 for two wins and four for the draw, minus ten). That left Australia at No. 3 on the WTC table, with 30 percentage points, behind Pakistan (100) and India (66.67)
It's not about the points for England anyway. Its bigger than that. It's about the journey they are on with this group of lads - the Stokesys; The Woakesys; The Duckys; The Rootys; The Jonnys; The Broadys; The Popeys; The Brookys; The Pottsys; The Tongueys; The Woodys; The Andos (who performed the worst out of this lot and is obviously an outcast in the nickname stakes); the Flopsys; the Mopsys; and the Cottontails. Points or no points, the focus is on things much bigger than cricket.

I am all for this. Fielding tams should scratch their ass and adjust their box on their own time, or in one of their many in game shower breaks.

Only right that they get rapped on the wrist, and might next time just get on with things.
