SS  Don't know about "gloating" or anything like that and do not know anything about trophies. England threw away any chance of regaining the Ashes with two batting performances which merit a special place in Hell reserved for lawyers, dentists and those who talk loudly in the theatre.
Imagine spending your entire existence looking in peoples mouths only to be rewarded with a second chance in hell.

Anderson might as well retire if the poms are going to continue preparing batting friendly wickets. It's not surprising he failed, especially against Aus who he is mediocre against in general (more often than not).

Don't think it was 'obviously' dropped, it was similar thing to the Starc one at Lords, although Stokes looked like he knew he'd blown it...
Can only assume that was tongue in cheek?

If not.....

The ball change wasn't poor officiating, that's on whoever supplies the balls. The seam was damaged and they got a new ball. It's poor planning that the only one they had were about 15 overs old.
Oh, ok, that would have nothing to do with match officials then.....

Who was in charge of said planning?
It’s supposed to be like for like

Simply grabbing a ball and saying that it’s a cricket ball so it’s the same was ridiculous

Don’t know whether this still happens/legal but I have seen test umpires rough a replacement ball up before it’s allowed to be used many times

Right but like my point was that "they only had really ill-fitting balls to choose from" is not an excuse for the umpires given that they're supposed to be in charge of the entire process.

England got by far the best of the bowling conditions, and Anderson still failed to make an impact.

I don’t know whether they’re still able to take matters into their own hands and change the condition of the available options

Get your facts right. England didn't swap the ball. It was the umpires and they selected from balls with a similar number of overs used.
After England, like annoying toddler has asked repeatedly for a ball change because they weren't happy with it.
I get that the moisture had aged it, but Australia had to bat through the dampness.
I get that blind Joel probably couldn't tell the difference,

Maybe we need a limit to the requests to ball changing, in the interest of speeding up the game. The constant checking could not have helped the over rate.

Nah. WTC is a novelty. We are not NZ who have no real silverware and have to big things up.
We lost when it matters in the series that matters. Yes! This is a lost series because they went there to win and failed. England showed up many problems in Australian cricket. Their bowling plans worked. Ours failed.
Nice to see Broad have his last batting ball be a 6 and his last bowling ball be a wicket.
Presumably, he's the first to hit a six and take a wicket with last balls faced and bowled. It reminded that Richard Hadlee took a wicket with his last ball in test cricket too and had given Broad advice a few years ago on changing his run-up to prolong his career.

I mean the ball got changed because it crashed into the lip of a hard helmet and had a great big chunk taken out of it. I don't see how you can complain about that in itself. It is ironic that the one time the ball change worked for England also was the one time it didn't happen on their own request.

I think both sides will be reflecting a lot on the "what if's" and will feel they've missed big opportunities to take series. At the end of the day 2-2 is a fair result.
I feel like people are just saying this because the series is over and they want to be nice. Think England quite comfortably played the better cricket overall in the series and dominated more passages of play. They should be annoyed as **** they didn't win.

Next summer WI and Sri Lanka are touring. Will give him the best chance he's likely to have of grabbing a bucket of wickets and leaving in more dignified circumstances than this series has allowed.

Anderson bowled with plenty of assistance through most of this series. Even had cloud cover for nearly every spell. Can't blame the pitches for his lack of penetration.

Yep overall England definitely played better cricket. Given how much better they usually play than Australia in English conditions, dukes ball etc. they should be very disappointed with 2-2. But then Australia should be disappointed too. They played bad and the tactics were terrible. Cummins/McDonald is not a good leadership team.

Yeah, with the weather and that day 1 declaration, England will feel like they should've won 4 or maybe 3-1. However, I also think they'll feel a lot better than they did after the 2-2 draw in 2019 when the opposite was true.
