World XI? No. West Indies? His strike rate is worse relatively than Chanderpaul's so probably not.

Yes. All this crap about his sr when its literally Hope or Bust. He has no choice but to play cautiously.

Greenidge himself played at the samerate as hope anyways. + Hope is a keeper and wi doesnt have someone highly exceptional to fulfill that.
Edit: hope has a great record at 4

Chris Gayle
Gordon Greenidge
Brian Lara
Shai Hope (wk)
Vivian Richards
Clive Lloyd (c)
Carl Hooper
Malcolm Marshall
Michael Holding
Curtly Ambrose
Joel Garner

I can defend Shai Hope on his strike rate , with a such a fragile batting line up he probably has felt he has to bat through the innings to get West Indies to reasonable scores ..

Since he moved down the order he has shown he can score quickly , this year he has scored 623 runs at a SR of 96 .

It would be understandable if he had a strike rate of ~80 or so but it's well below par. Since 2016 the average SRb for top 4 batsmen is 83. Hope's strike rate of 77 is unacceptably slow, even allowing for the fact that he's batting in a poor side.

He's made improvements recently, I agree, but I'll have to see more of him against good sides to get behind him.

Yeah Hope donning the gloves does help his case ..
No Windies Keeper comes even close to his record with the bat ..

Hope is an underrated gem of a player and high quality in ODIs but unfortunately this is less of an overlooking (and he is often overlooked) and more of a struggle to break into arguably the best all time ODI side (Australia takes the crown imo but the WI have an incredible one also).

Sarwan and Hope are better than Hooper as bats but Hooper is unfortunately the best spinner for them. Also, a good hitter who can bowl 6-7 overs easily should play at 7. Either DJ Bravo or Russell. Also, a spinner is required in any team.

Gayle
Greenidge/Haynes
Viv
Lara
Hope (wk)
Lloyd
DJ Bravo
Hooper
Marshall
Ambrose
Garner

Hooper to move up in case of a collapse.

Good side buddy ..I think Gayle and Viv have close to 300 ODI wickets between them with their off spin ..
I would include a master blaster/luxury player at No.7 in place of Hooper ...Someone like a Nicholas Pooran or Andre Russell 🤔

Most definitely. But only as a keeper. And a WI all time odi team fwiw:

Haynes
Gayle
Lara
Viv
Hope+
Sarwan
Lloyd*
Holding
Roberts
Garner
Ambrose

Gayle and Viv to bowl 5 overs each. If Narine's action was legal, he'd be included ahead of one of the fast bowlers.
