Top five are solidly Imran, Tendulkar, Murali, Gavaskar and Wasim. They are all the only genuine ATGs ever to come from Asia.

Below that are regular greats.

Kapil Dev, Waqar, Sanga, Miandad, Dravid, Kumble, and Ashwin can all contend for positions 6 to 10.

You are referring to tests only right?

As an English fan, these would be my personal picks

Sangakkara - just made batting seem easy without having to power the ball.
Akram - less for good exploits with Pakistan but I got to see a lot of him playing for Lancs on telly when growing up.
Ishant Sharma - got better and better as he got older, an example to follow of always seeking to improve.
Younis Khan - see Sangakkara
Dravid - never felt England had a chance unless they got Dravid out. Feared him more than the other great batters in that Indian lineup.
Babar - see Kumar, Younis. A Babar century is pure cricketing perfection.
MSD - greatest finisher of all time? I've seen many Indian fans denigrate him and he probably went on too long but his influence on Indian cricket has been enormous.
Virat up to c2020 - he has faded in recent years but for a while his record was incredible and looked like he might surpass Sachin's. Goat-level stroke player.
Malinga - pretty unique talent. Hard to imagine there will be a quick in T20 as unplayable as he was at his peak.
Sehwag - always a lot of chat about what he couldn't do in more challenging conditions overlooked what he could do, which was to be utterly dominant
Not sure if this is a serious list? Top 10 ever cricketers from Asia can't feature Ishant Sharma. Granted, he improved a lot. But still....

Doesn’t stop it being an awful list though
Meh, I could easily write something similar to all the lists you've probably put together with the usual suspects. Why bother?

These are the guys whose performance and character has impressed and/or entertained me in the time I've watched the game, even if they're not always the best.

That's fair enough. There are no rules.

Tests Top X

Murali
Imran
Tendulkar
Ashwin
Wasim
Sangakkara
Waqar
Kapil
Kumble
Herath
I love the inclusion of more bowlers - particularly spinners - as Test matchwinners here, even if at the expense of Dravid and Javed Miandad, which I am questionable on. But no Gavaskar? I can't get behind that on a Test players' list.

Imran, Murali, Tendulkar, Gavaskar and Wasim are the guys who will be regularly featured in ATG XIs. The others no.

Maybe if we suddenly get a glut of ATG left arm pacers in the next few years, Wasim will no longer be considered for ATG XIs and will no longer remain an ATG.
