Just watched the replay. It was good of us to give up about 120 runs in dropped catches.

Decent nut by Starc too. Although the dismissal is less about him and more about the journey Stokes went on playing a non-results orientated shot.

Definitely our day - probably the first time you can comfortably say that since Day 1 at Leeds (maybe even Day 4 at Lord's?), but would've been even better with better catching.

Important we bat well today. Do so and it'll go a long way towards winning the Test.

It's good that Murphy took wickets. Showed that we shouldn't be so one-dimensional in our approach. That we largely weren't was a good reason why we bowled England out for under 300 despite a rip-roaring start and all those ****ing dropped catches.

I think there ended up being 5 in the end. Though only Carey's one on Brook actually hurt.

Yeah it was very frustrating. If Carey holds Brook we probably get them all out for under 200. Those runs are vital.

I'm nervous about our batting considering how brittle it has been even in good conditions. Conceding a lead would not surprise me in the least. We seem to lack the ability to take control and put the opposition out of the match.

So Taylor played in three Ashes Series in England scoring 1,584 runs. So on average he scored 528 runs per Ashes Series in England. His best was in 1989 (839 runs) and his worst was in 1997 (317 runs). It was always going to be difficult to recapture that same 1989 output but he was pretty consistent in his other two series in 1993 and 1997.
