*Official* Fifth Test (The Oval, London) 27-31 July

MW1304

Cricketer Of The Year
Anderson has never been especially effective against Aus outside of a few isolated spells anyway. He hasn't looked terrible, just lacked penetration on mostly unhelpful surfaces against batsmen who know his tricks inside out and are happy to sit on him.
He's looked far more threatening in his last two tours than here though. Averaging 80 ffs, that just doesn't happen. It doesn't usually matter who knows his tricks, he can find a way even in flat conditions (but Clouderson etc).

Simple truth is he could never keep it up forever and, most importantly, there's a new generation getting better results.

Think he said he is retiring after the Windies at home didn't he? Might as well give him that as a send off.

Could open up the gates late in the day. Man the similar ways Warner gets out these days just crazy. Has he ever been a figity as today as well don’t remember him moving around during and after the ball

he's done imagine Graeme Hick, Ramprakash, Devon Malcolm et al had been afforded as much grace as Anderson and Warner they may have carved out some decent numbers
