3 years ago you'd have said Kohli easily but given his long barren run you'd have to put Jadeja ahead of him now for the all round package he brings.

Wait are you sure this is correct ,

Jadeja played 4 series away from home in the 2020's and 2 one off WTC finals in England ..

NZ vs India 25 runs in 2 inns , 1 not out
Aus vs India 85 runs in 2 inns , 1 not out
WTC final 1 NZ vs England , 31 runs in 2 inns
England vs India , 287 runs in 9 inns
WTC final 2 Australia vs India , 48 runs in 2 inns
WI vs India , 98 runs in 2 Inns , 1 not out

25 + 85 +31 + 287 + 48 + 98 = 574 runs /16 inns dismissed
= 35.88 avg.

Bowling
NZ vs India - 2/46
AUS vs India - 7/105
WTC final vs NZ - 1/45
England vs India - 6/337
WTC final vs Aus - 4/114
WI vs India - 7/111

758 runs/27 wickets
= 28.07 bowling average
i took it from cricinfo and forgot it doesn’t count wtc final unless you specify neutral location thanks for pointing that out

Surely it's close. Kohli at his peak was scoring high impact runs everywhere and carrying a pretty dodgy middle order. Obviously his decline has been terrible but I wouldn't put it past him to have a good 2-3 years before retirement.
Yes I hope so. Would be a tragedy if he retires with a sub-50 average.

He would really need the pitches at home to change, but I hope he finishes on 50 too. He is a 50-bat. Think Kohli now is a typical ageing player. Increasing liability on tough tracks but can still go big on flat tracks. His decline has obviously been very severe even relative to conditions but people underestimate how much impact conditions have on longevity.

Why? I think Kohli has the potential to rebound in the next few years to end on a high and reclaim an ATG status. On that basis I vote for him over someone who hasn't taken a fifer in SENA.
Yeah Kohli's away record isn't perfect but it's quite a lot better than the other two.

I wouldn't mind him cashing in on flatter home tracks to get his average up there as he has already proven himself away.

This is just for tests right? Because then it’s Kohli marginally. If it’s for ODIs + tests, Kohli is light years ahead of both Ashwin and Jadeja.
