You are proving hb's statement about you deciding to like a kid and then base your rating on that truer and truer.
What I said is harsh but true. You don't end up in cricket folklore by just taking wickets at home or against WI. You need some champion achievements away.

Indian fans will remember Ashwin for his great service but outside India his absence will be largely unfelt.

People outside of India will look back at this period and wonder why their teams couldn't win in India for over a decade, 15 series wins in a row ..
People in England still talk about Cook and Pietersen winning in India a decade ago ..
India are so dominant at home that fans of cricket teams don't even try to Hope of winning in India they just try to invalidate the conditions of Indian pitches to make themselves feel better.
Even flavour of the month Bazball cricket , everyone is waiting to see if they can overcome Ashwin and Jadeja in India ..That's a legacy alright 👍.

Yeah like how everybody talks about India being unbeaten at home in the 90s.

All that is good but then you call Botham ATG who won less matches than Ashwin.

their win loss ratio in the 90s is 3 times lower than what it was in 2010s but you seem to only use stats that are convenient for the story you want to paint
Pakistan once went 15 years without losing a home series. Yet that doesn't really matter to fans as much as their first win in England and India in the 80s.

20 years from now, fans will still remember this teams' win in Australia but their home streak will be lost in a blur. Home wins only stand out as memorable against high quality opposition otherwise they are expected. Home teams are expected to be bullies somewhat and India being bigger bullies than others will in hindsight be seen 100 percent as the product of unusually spinning wickets and that's about it.

The fact that Ashwin and Jadeja couldnt even on a single occasion remotely simulate their magic outside these conditions will be remembered as proof of their deficiencies and everyone who isn't a hardcore fanatic of team Kohli knows that. Ashwin will be written off as a one trick home bully pony which is actually a bit unfair since he is better than his poor overall away record seems.

its truly copium when he cant even acknowledge that Ashwin was also a part of those two famous series wins down under

Ashwin broke the nearly 50 run partnership after the 1st wicket in Adelaide 1st innings and brought Australia to 87-4 then dismissed 2 of Australia's top 3 in 2nd innings in his only test in 2018 while holding up his end superbly. he also bowled more overs in that test than the famed workhorse spinner of Australian bowling. dismissing his efforts because he didn't take 2 more lower order wickets in either innings is stupid as ****

in the next series he was our best bowler in Adelaide in a ****ing day night test when Lyon took 1 wicket. in Melbourne he took 2 quick wickets in the 1st innings to bring Australia to 38-3 and then held his own end in the 2nd innings. he wasn't as influential with the ball in the last test he played but without him batting bravely and blocking with an injured hamstring for more than 100 balls we wouldn't have drawn that test and had the hope to go on and win @ Gabba. in that series he got the opponent's best batsman out 3 times in 6 innings but if that isn't enough of an impact for subs here then he also riled up Paine enough for him to loose his cool and get destroyed mentally. and here is the best part he was the 3rd best for economy in the series and he should be considered 2nd because Shami bowled in only 1 innings in that series so he was our most economical bowler. he also averaged half of what the great Lyon did in that series who subs considers a vastly superior bowler

beyond all of this irrefutable on paper proof he also bowled very well which would have been obvious to anyone watching that series but clearly subs didn't and only prefers to carry out agenda driven analysis to suit his drivel

His Aussie stuff was a good away performance and I give him credit for that.

But you are comparing him to ATGs my friend so we need great away performances, not cute little 3fers and Ashwin has none.

Fundamental difference between me and certain posters here:

I consider homebullying without some comparable achievements away a deficiency.

You all consider it a strength.
