The Hundred could be scrapped

Open question: how important do you think quality of player on show is to attendance at T20 or Hundred matches?

What does the article suggest is being proposed?
I cannot read it either however I imagine it is the ‘18 franchises’ model discussed in the press around April - 18 teams, two divisions but separate from the counties to allow private investment.

Can't immediately see how that can work or which problems it would solve never mind how the counties would agree to losing T20 involvement

Hard to know without being able to read the article but is this a genuine proposal or is this a case of wishful thinking by a journo who despises the Hundred and has latched onto a rumour?

Would be typical of English cricket if at the point the Hundred got established after all the disruption it caused they scrapped it.

Based on a recent article in the telegraph it would appear that this 39(?, only 18 FC counties and 20 minors) county proposal is the first choice of the ecb chairman and chief exec. Whether it will eventually come to pass given the other vested interests involved remains guesswork at this point.

Yes, that came out earlier in the year but I think the change is the expansion in possible teams (and that these might not be county sides). There was also talk about private investment.

If they're going down this route then get rid of the Blast as well. Just have one comp

See I traditionally hate the Hundred, and think having the tournament in tandem with the Blast is a waste of time, but if it's going to be successful, then I'd rather see the Blast scrapped and the Hundred kept, anything like that, but don't keep both.

Quality > quantity

We are dealing in speculation here however as I understand it the proposal is for this new competition to replace the hundred and the blast. Whether there is the appetite to finance and support 39 professional sides in England must very much be doubted. If the lower 21 were to be amateur or semi-pro it seems hard to imagine how they could effectively take part in a football-style ladder or pyramid.

Let's not forget in the current football pyramid League Two teams regularly get attendances of over 10,000 fans and more

We won't hardly reach that in the Hundred final

Not sure what this would mean for the women's game (which even I have to concede the Hundred has done a lot of good for).
