Surrey probably purchased the weather.
Turns out in the end it was almost the perfect declaration with all 3 results possible with 2 overs to go.Sussex batting on. WTF?
Essex have to play Hampshire twice yet. Might have a bit to do with things aswell. Both have to play Middlesex and Northants, weather could impact again on either side when playing the bottom sides. The early season washout between Surrey and Essex when Essex were in a winning position may be decisive.
but what were two games supposed to prove?Kookaburra experiment appears to have been a waste of time.
Gotta hope, for sure. But it's a bit David v Goliath. Every match we play we have one current or ex FC counties player but often face three or more with first class experience.Impressive that. You would have hoped that Cumbria will actually win it
news to me, but fairly sure in the last days of the Royal London sponsorship it was often not called the Royal London Cup. Do they like to keep things quiet? Across the board one day cricket men and women:I’m a couple of days behind on the news however the One Day Cup now has a sponsor. Quite possibly bunged in for free along with ODI sponsorship but a sponsor nonetheless.
Someone (I think George Dobell) was posting about it on Twitter and saying it wasn't even really a money thing, but more about seamers wanting to play somewhere a bit more seam friendly. What's going on at Worcestershire?
Brown to Derbyshire after Tongue and Pennington to Notts. Morris retired.
All that after losing Barnard and Moeen at the end of last season.
Lots of issues. The Pitch isn't great. Brown was offered a contract for just T20/50 over and he wants to play in the County Championship which Derbyshire offered. Worcestershire have lost a lot of money due to covid/floods etc and don't have the money that they did in the late 80s and early 90s when we won stuff. I feel this is going to start a new era in county cricket and a lot of players will go to bigger countries. What's going on at Worcestershire?

been happening in bits and pieces over the years. To the bigger counties i.e. to franchise grounds (except Wales?) I try and track these movements, normally between 20 and 30 each off-season, but not normally from Worcestershire.Lots of issues. The Pitch isn't great. We haven't really. We have won 2 trophies in that period (National League 2007, T20 Blast 2018) . and only survived in the top flight of the CC twiceIndeed, from the outside, Worcestershire have often punched above their weight in the last 15 years or so compared to counties with similarly small resources. Pity if there is indeed some internal discontent as weeman implied.
Connected point - will not Notts now have a surplus of seam bowlers?
Pretty sure Jake Ball is not a first choice for them in four-day cricket, so the fact that he's been playing in the CC would suggest they're short. Stone has predictably been injured. Fletcher has been out most of the season too. Hutton has done well but is not exactly lightning pace. Not sure if Dane Paterson is committed to staying long term?will not Notts now have a surplus of seam bowlerspinched from other counties?
Four seasons in division one since 2008 is better than Northants (3), Glos & Derbys (1) and Leics & Glam (0). These numbers do though emphasise the existing divide. We haven't really.
