Is Ashwin an ATG spinner / player?

Are you all really that myopic? Ashwin didn't win the series by his lonesome. He had a whole crew who contributed as much if not more than he did.

We are assessing the capability of a SC spinner to run through a side in SENA. Pure and simple.

I like how Ashwin himself admits how important taking a fifer is here yet these posters insist it is meaningless and irrelevant.

Except I showed how it was supporting Ashwin's bowling.

There are more examples. Wanderers 2013 and in SA in 2021. All prime opportunities to bowl out a team in the 4th innings.
Ignoring the greater support provided to pacers is not the argument to make, let alone singling out a handful of matches to downgrade ratings.

Notably not a serious argument made for great pacers who are also quite pitch dependent as spinners even accounting for differences between the two types.

Ashwins average and strike rate are materially better than Kumble (and really any contemporary spinner since Murali). You can’t just ignore that, any adjustment for conditions is far less than adjustment for average. And India plays cricket around the world (including SENA); his record in SENA, particularly Australia (the most important country in SENA for any Asian team) is good enough, but it’s his overall record that counts.

A handful is enough to demonstrate he was given sufficient opportunity to run through a side and didn't.

It is. In a SC spinner's entire career, they are only going to get a handful of opportunities to really seal a game when it is set up for you in SENA.
Have you considered that rating a handful of games over the vast majority is a stupid idea for any sensible fan? Or that the reason that there are only a handful of opportunities for spinners to seal a game in SENA is largely down to SENA pitches being doctored against spinners and for pacers?
