English Domestic Season 2023

Looks that way, against your seam attack in those conditions, that's an innings
Did you have the Somerset avatar before Pearce?

I've not seen Rew batting. But just seeing his stats you'd back him in to go on to top score in CC this season. But his 48 SR means he's probably not got a chance at England.

Which when he's doing as well as he's doing at 19 seems mental.

Got 5 good keeper/batsman in county cricket that England have looked at for England or Lions cricket.

Robinson, Smith and Cox all more in the Bazball mold.

Foakes and Rew more classical batsman.

An embarrassment of riches on that front either way.

Foakes playing County Cricket is probably not helping Smith's chances long term. I've not seen many of them keep that much, what is Rew's glovework like? If he keeps scoring this volume of runs, he won't be ignored. He'll also develop confidence and I'd expect his SR to increase too.

Durham having a nightmare so far. Our remaining batting doesn't look like it will get near Gloucestershire first innings total.

You'd have to ask @grecian on their glove work. If he's the Somerset fan.

I know that all of Cox,Rew and Smith did the glovework in Sri Lanka for the lions. Ollie Robinson played but as a batsman only.

Smith has been keeping in the blast mind, but yes stuck behind Foakes in the CC

Cox the only one of the 5 I mentioned with the bat averaging below 40 in CC this season.

@Molehill he's kicked up a gear in his SR in this innings batting with the tail anyway. Just hit 16 from an over currently 190 from 290 65 SR

but his number 11 partner on 29 from 30 is more Bazball SR

Rew maiden double century 204 from 297

Moved on quickly to 210 from 301

Fella at the other end Bashar is only 19 too and he's 36 from 42.

Partnership currently 88* from 73 for the 10th wicket

Amazing effort by Somerset against Hampshire. Two 19 year olds put on 108 for the the 10th wicket.

Reached the hundred partnership from 86 balls.

All out for 500. Rew maiden double century out for 221. Out LBW from James Vince though

I am not a wicket-keeping expert. I am going to Taunton for the one-day cup, it'll be devoid of talent, so I will basically be on James Rew watch. It will be interesting to see him in limited overs, see him step up the run-rate, he clearly has the shots to develop his game, and he certainly accelerated in this match..

As I may have said before on this board, I really dislike the loan system as it cuts against cricket as a team or squad game and dilutes the sense of a club. I would rather it was only used on extreme occasions such as every wicketkeeper on the staff being injured. Otherwise counties should rely on their internal resources and promote a player from the second team.

I only just spotted Moriaty on loan at Yorkshire.

How the eff can Yorkshire loan out Bess but get another spinner in on loan. It's absolutely pathetic and should be stopped.
