*Official* Second Test (Lord's, London) 28 June–2 July

So...having had a few too many beverages and now looking outside (6.27am London time, 5 miles from Lords), it's clear skies...both results on the table, but the draw certainly isn't.

If Oh****it and Stokes stick it out, it may well be the new ball in 50 overs that decides it. Whatever happens, great Sunday coming up.

257 is really lot of runs and Australia are two wickets away from Broad

If they play out the first session without losing more than 1 wicket, I'd say they are Infront as England usually score 150 runs per session so you'd be needing 100 to win with Stokes and Barstool in the middle

This can’t be out.

If you say he was in control, well players are often in a similar level of control before they fall to the ground and it pops out.

The Green one against Gill was out - this shouldn’t be.
I’ll tell you what, if Ollie Robinson ran around the boundary and took that same catch (I know, lol) it isn’t overturned in a month of Sundays.

Yeah, this drives me utterly nuts. I don't have time to watch replays of entire sessions, so rely on highlights each day. They don't include dropped catches, or wickets off no balls, or any of the key moments in a day's play. And they've skipped this catch too - and having just seen it now, that's so obviously not out, and is just a really crap bit of cricket from Starc. He's an international cricketer ffs, you know the ball can't touch the ground, turn your hand over or roll your body or whatever, but definitely do not scrape the ball along the ground.
No one who’s played sport at any level over the age of four would roll their hand over at that point unless they want to smash their wrist to smithereens and star in the sequel to Edward Dildohands.

Lyon playing with a munted leg and Moeen can't play with a boo boo on his finger.

Weak. Clearly learning off McCullum's complete lack of guts across a career that was apropos to nothing against Australia.

According to the letter of the law it was not out. However, in this case, the law is an ass.
Worse than ass is a wankerpire employing one rule for the home team (root) and another for the upholders of all that is good.

Because of this ****wit, some poor fielder who has full control of the ball will not do what starc and root did, headbutt the ground and concuss himself, or try and twist and dislocate their shoulder.

Starc is not an idiot. The ****wit 3rd umpire is an idiot.

Haven't seen it but it sounds like that Ponting catch against India all over again. Anyone with common sense can see it shouod be out. If the laws don't support that they need to change

Will we get gaslit again by McCullum into believing the advantage is with England?

And you would be complaining about it were it brought up. Vehemently. With several instances of the phrase "cheating Poms".
The fielder isn’t cheating in that instance. There needs to be consistency. If that’s not out then Root’s catch of Head isn’t out. They’d both completed the catch and had full control of what they were doing. Erasmus plainly delivered a home towner. Woeful decision making.

Add this to 'crazy opinions of the 2nd Test' along with Glenn 'if that isn't a catch, none in Test history have been' McGrath' and Kevin 'Lyon only batted so he could get hit on the head, be judged concussed and allow Murphy to play' Pietersen.

I call KP the gold medalist of the insane opinion Olympics, G.McGrath silver and Victor Ian an unlucky bronze in a tight race.

I still don't get how the first innings dismissal of root was given out then. Smith was struggling to keep the ball tucked into his chest while scrapping along the ground, and threw it up t9 celebrate as it was falling out. He wasn't in control of the ball that whole time IMO.

It seems like the duckett one was not out, and the call makes the game more interesting tomorrow so I don't care too much. Just a bit confused.

Cameron Green is an idiot for not catching the leprechaun in the first over.
tbh things may or may not have turned out as they did if that catch was taken (ie Cummins double wicket order)

It'll be different time line after that etc

Nah. No one complained about root when it happened because we knew it was a fair catch. Were just sore now because it's one rule for us and another for them. Even the weather is rigged. Fmd, you lot are always invoking divine intervention to get over the line

Also can England fire their vice captain already? By god Pope does absolutely nothing and just about any expat Saffa batsman in County would do a better job.

That doesn’t detract from him being an idiot.
