English Domestic Season 2023

I must admit to having never heard of Jack Blatherwick before this match, but he's bowled really well at times. Unlucky not to remove Burns with the first ball he sent down, but no mistake a few deliveries later. I'm not sure I'd blame the batsman for that one at all. Hmm, night watchman with four overs to go, and Lawes's batting has been a non-event this season. This could get really messy now.
Game will probably hinge on the overhead conditions tomorrow morning. But Surrey will have the belief that their batting depth will "always find a way".

BBC reporting: "ECB Recommended sporting sanctions [on Yorkshire] included a deduction of 48 to 72 points in the 2023 County Championship, a deduction of four to six points in the 2023 One-Day Cup, and a deduction of four to six points in the 2023 T20 Blast."

At least the One Day Cup isn't more than half way through.

Not really. He's only playing because of injuries and call ups and he was never going to be used much on that wicket.

He's young and there'll be other chances for him.
They should make him available for some 3 day cricket in the forthcoming National Counties Championship, for his home county.

Nah they will probably lose another couple early tomorrow to get all our hopes up before someone in their lower order wins the game (as always.)

Josh Tongue off to Lancashire by the sounds of it.

Basically as soon as we get anyone with any promise they get poached by a bigger team, but I guess that's the way of the world.

Surprised Durham batted on this morning but we've still taken 3 wickets in the first hour so it's all good.

Lancshire just beaten Hampshire and Surrey. Next two games against Essex and Warwickshire. Dare to dream? Dream that is that someone else will stand up to Surrey

Essex could well have beaten Surrey earlier in the season if it hadn’t rained. That could end up being very important.

Or not, as it turned out. Lancashire way too good for us across the four days as a whole. This seems as good a time as any to suggest that we're not really as invincible as some would have people believe. I think the point that is missed about our 501 run-chase against Kent is that we actually needed that many to beat a reasonable but less-than-outstanding Kent side. iirc my stated view at the start of the season was that the CC was probably between four sides. That would have looked better if I'd included Warwickshire as one of the said four sides, but broadly speaking I think it was fair enough.
