Still baffles me how Sri Lanka are in these qualifiers just shows how much they’ve fallen as a team. They were crazy good especially in the short formats when Kumar, Mahela, dilshan and that were there
Our batting became shaky and bowling went down the drain. It was always bowlers who put us in the map. We produces best attacks in shorter formats for last 20 years. Then suddenly we got a lack of wicket taking bowlers. It is improving now with Hasaranga and Theekshana working as a combination, still we need good pacers. Hopefully Rajitha and Chameera can bowl in tandem. The other important factor is rise of DDS as a bowler, He is now doing what Jayasuriya did in the past. Tight canny spin bowling. He should be opening the innings IMO with DK.

What was going on with that Ireland lineup? Just double checked, and they didn't pick camphor? I know the actual WC is in India, but when you've got McBrine and tector in the top 7 do you really need white+delany playing aswell? Ireland's bowling strength is their seamer and they've only picked 3.

Campher has totally got the yips with his bowling. I kind of assumed he was injured when he didn't turn up, but even if not he probably needed to make the team on batting alone.

When you have McBrine opening and Dockrell at 6, the #7 spot is probably a batting-only spot. Delany not bowling even though seven bowlers were used does back this up, too.

Is delany really the best option they've got as a #7 batting option though? I forgot dockrell was, definitely one spin bowling allrounder too msny. In general just feels like there 1-2 batsmen short while also being a bowler short with that lineup.

Nah I think Campher is definitely better on batting alone. He's not bowling much now but Delany didn't bowl at all anyway.

If the plan was to open with McBrine then Campher should've been picked even if he'd never bowled a ball in his life.

For anyone who watched the Ireland game live, was the loss a case of Ireland being 10-20 runs short or was it just poor bowling?

It's just odd. They've basically only got three batsmen in that side, with two of them being a bit past it or out of form. Tucker is a #6 in an ideal world and dockrell is a #7. Could delany bat a bit higher and mcbrine act as a pinch blocker to extend the middle order rather than the top order? Swear delany was an opener when he started up.

I think Ireland made slightly worse than par but not much. Maybe 5 runs. But they bowled total garbage. Oman would've chased another 15-20.
OK good to know. I was looking over the scorecard and saw tector managed 4 overs at an econ of under 4's, so was a bit suspicious.
