This could be an important Test for Shanto. He's done nothing since his ton in Sri Lanka a couple of years ago and his overall record is frankly awful (he's played half his Tests at home and averages 14 in this games). I reckon Joy has much more upside as a red ball player.
Not a bad recovery.

Shanto has started looking like an actual quality international white ball player but his test record is indefensible. I don't think his technique is suited with its emphasis on head position while neglecting footwork. Works for white ball hitting by creating more space to swing through, will get you into trouble against quality red ball pace bowling if people are moving it around.

He could hardly have done better against this inexperienced attack though.

Nah I assume it's something to do with being wary after the Windies chased down nearly 400 in a fourth innings against us with the pitch flattening out.

660 is probably enough though.

Interesting how few of the Afg team have even pro'd in England to widen their experiece, and that with the exception of Zahir Khan most of those who have played county cricket don't appear to be regulars in the test team.
