Nah I think Perry was legit preferred.

Admitedly I haven't seen much of Perry, but Sutherland being behind him feels weird.
It's quite weird. While Sutherland's form has dipped since taking the captaincy, and he frustratingly cannot find an extra 5 km/h, he's done significantly better than Perry over the long-term.

by my count over the last two seasons Sangha has an average of 33 and KPat 29 (with Sangha having more innings and KPat having more not outs). Sangha has 1 ton and 5 50's, KPat 2 tons and 2 50's. And obviously KPat is the actual captain and sooner or later if you want to make a 'big statement', dropping the underperforming captain does that more than dropping Sangha does. Entirely understandable imo.

I wonder if Shipperd wanted to drop KPat sooner though. It's the type of move that makes more sense in your first game as interim coach, not the possible last game as interim coach

I reckon I could pick an eleven out of grade players left out that'd beat that team tbh.

Return of the kings Nick Larkin, Peter Forrest and Daniel Solway.

Yeah they've been similarly **** in the past couple of years but KPat has shown he can be better previously so should have more credit in the bank. Don't think the captaincy of such a bad team has helped his batting either. Sacking him as captain but keeping him in the team would've made a lot more sense.

Honestly a batting average of 33 from Sangha in the past few years isn't THAT bad, don't think he's been that good this season though.

Wheres that lad that made 170* vs the Windies in a tour game opening earlier in the summer? Heard he was amongst the runs in grade cricket or something, could be handy.

He had a really good finish last season which helps.

This season his average is around 27. Which isn't completely horrible, but isn't really good either. And has had no real score of substance either, it's all been cute 30's and 40's.

Moey as captain is weird as hell as well, because I wouldn't be surprised if this is his last FC match. In fact part of me expects it to be.

It certainly reeks of someone throwing everything to the wall and seeing what sticks.

He's been dire for 3 seasons now though. 2020/21 was a one ton/no 50's/average of 21 as well. when does the credit run-out?

Sangha shouldn't be in the team but Moises has zero long-term future and frankly shouldn't be either.

McDonald. He's in the squad at least but should have played the prior match ahead of Edwards.

I think that was Blake Macdonald. With Hughes out injured he should play this game. Was in the squad last time but for some reason they thought Nikitaris and Edwards were better options for the XI.
