The 'M' team has great depth, so how about a Mc/Mac team?

About a billion people use Devanagari script in SC. exceptions are Pakistan, South India and Sri Lanka
Yet the India-Bangladesh all-time XI would be handily beaten by the Eng/Aus/SA/WI/NZ one. The split in ATG cricketers ≠ the split in population.

J XI (surnames)

1. ST Jayasuriya
2. PA Jaques
3. AH Jones
4. DPMD Jayawardene
5. DM Jones
6. RA Jadeja
7. HAPW Jayawardene
8. MG Johnson
9. IWG Johnson
10. KA Jamieson
11. WA Johnston

Stanley Jackson another strong candidate, but as a primarily no. 5 makes the order more difficult, and not confident picking a pre-WWI player over Deano. Jacobs is another keeping option. The third pace bowler is a sore spot, went with Jamieson who's had the best career so far of the options I could think of (also Julien, Joseph, Ernie Jones).

FSJ was a bigly gun in tests so probs deserves a spot. Perhaps move Andrew Jones to open and shaft Jaques. Bit of a shame there's no spot for Jessop in there unless go light a batter, but he isn't really good enough anyhow. but #bazball of course necessitates him, and for that matter Will Jacks iirc

I was thinking of that. Jackson scored one of his test hundreds opening, so maybe a direct swap for Jacques would be better. But his FC average of 33 does cross my mind, though I know you can apply some adjustment for era.

And #BazBall did cross my mind when scrolling past Jessop's name.

No one has yet tackled Z. Off the top of my head...

1 Ibrahim Zadran
2 Fakhar Zaman C
3 Rizwan-uz-Zaman
4 Khaya Zondo
5 Billy Zulch
6 Stiaan van Zyl
7 Tim Zoehrer +
8 Mohammad Zahid
9 Nuwan Zoysa
10 Monde Zondeki
11 Farrukh Zaman

I think this team comfortably takes out the Qs and Vs

edit: also, I am aware that zaheer khan (both of them) were options, but i'm not stooping to the lows that W's are prepared to go to field a team.

Hmmm, does he even make that...?

Gordon Greenidge
Graham Gooch
Richie Richardson
Steve Smith
Colin Cowdrey
Mushtaq Mohammad
Tatenda Taibu
Chris Cairns
Malcolm Marshall
Mutthiah Muralitharan
Morne Morkel

Azhar Ali and Peter Pollock desperately unlucky and they could easily come in for Richardson and Morkel.

I've used the names they were known by (I know that Greenidge and Cowdrey had different first names, and that I could include Jack Russell otherwise).

There's probably a better keeper than Taibu, and there must be some others I'm forgetting but this is off the top of my head after several glasses of Bordeaux so will have to do for now.
Does Yusuf Youhana qualify? If you wanted a bit of fire in the attack, there's Colin Croft and Patrick Patterson to call on too.

Ignoring the bad alphabetisation, Zulch was an opener (and fairly good actually). Bowling attack looks light – maybe put @Zinzan in there: he famously dismissed Crowe after all.

Unfortunately Zulch has to bat at 5 (he has done that in the past) to allow the two other openers to get out cheaply in time for him to still blunt the new ball.

What is wrong with my alphabetisation? Im aware there is an Uz and a van, but those bits are not the real surname part, just fluff to make it more grand.

wrong

Fakhar is generally considered an F and Zaheer Abbas and Khan Zs
I am just going by the cricket database. Are you telling me that Zaheer is greeted as khan?

You might know better, but I understand uz just means the. And that van means of. These are minor concessions. It's like like putting Osama in the b team when it's really the l team.

Edit:. You are right that zulch should open. It's not easy being Z.

Nah, the Vs would be far too good. Quite amazing spin bowling depth too.

Murali Vijay
Michael Vaughan (c)
Gundappa Viswanath
Dilip Vengsakar
Lou Vincent
Adam Voges
K Veryenne (wk)
Chaminda Vaas
Hedley Verity
Bert Vogler
Bill Voce

Cyril Vincent/Valentine/Venkat/Vettori don't make the team which seems crazy

Another option is to drop Louie Vincent, move Veryenne and co. up one and also pick Brian Vitori to give another seamer, but perhaps Vettori could be picked for his batting.

Yep. V's beat Z. Now for someone to take up the Q challenge.
