And while my views might be coloured by that five-for he took in South Africa about a billion years ago, I'd put the opposite proposition, that Jadeja should have been picked for a number of non-Asian matches instead of Ashwin.

I was not making a Jadeja vs Ashwin argument . My point was there were several games where both should have played. Jadeja makes the team as a batsman alone and has done for a long time.

Posters have consistently used this selection quandary of "Who to pick between ashwin and Jadeja" as a knock against both of them for years depending on which player they're arguing for/against. It is complete horseshit.

Ray Price always got picked - was he better than Ashwin? I really enjoy social's contributions and he's obviously got a thick skin or I wouldn't call him out like this, but so many of the ideas behind his posts have absolutely no limiting principle and basically just seem to be post hoc justifications for what he's decidied before he actually thinks about anything.
