Australian Domestic Season 2022-23

I'de love to have a political party named after myself. Alas I do not.
No hard feelings or anything, it's just such a country Queensland thing to go "we're nothing like those ***** in Brisbane". Just found that somewhat amusing for some reason

In other news, NSW continue to produce the same results despite the team changes. Although in fairness Hughes getting injured isn't something that they can do anything about

Any word on what happened to him?

But yeah, the tails smacking a few runs again the only thing which leads to even a modestly decent score with NSW these days. They're terrible.

Very important for Australian cricket that Marcus Harris doesn't make any runs here.

Leg injury of some sort, took off for a run and then pulled up almost immediately. I'm not a doctor, but it didn't look great

Perry has been nightwatchman so often this season that he almost feels like a permanent part of their top order.
Was almost more use as nightwatchman as he was with the ball earlier in the season. Bowled a lot better since coming back in to the Vic team though

Was Manenti always this good, or is this just a legitimate out of nowhere season?

What a sensational partnership that was, knew both Manenti and especially McAndrew certainly are no mugs with the blade, but that is definitely beyond anything I thought. Brilliant

Two observations:

- Rocketcholi is a moderate upgrade on Agar as a spinner, at minimum
- Sutherland has pretty much stopped taking wickets since being made captain

Sutherland is a good cricketer but Bartlett has always been the standout talent from that age group

Apparently.

Anyone see Stobo’s caught and bowled to get rid of Wardy today? Insane catch.
Yeah he was dropped. Whether the talk of him heading back up to Queensland started there or was already around beforehand is another question though, I personally suspect the latter

Indeed that c&b was a damn good take. Stobo has been very handy ever since getting into the WA side, must admit I didn't really rate him when he played those few games for NSW a few years back. But he has really done a job for WA, not quick but accurate and can get plenty of bounce, that generally tends to work well at Shield level. Should kill off the last remnants of Cameron Gannon having a FC career too which is nice

It was a great catch by Stobo as was Marsh's slip take to break a good opening stand. Bancroft looked to have received an 'iffy' decision but Whiteman is looking solid.
Harris aside, are any of Ward, Whiteman and Bancroft in the frame for an Ashes tour? On form, Bancroft should be but past indiscretion and a poor 2019 tour might count against him.

This is pretty much exactly the problem I have with the idea of a Bancroft recall. Considering he did indeed struggle in the 2019 Ashes (and to a lesser extent 2017-18 here in Australia) I really have very little faith that another shot against the same opposition will end any differently. Having such a strong Shield season obviously puts him in the conversation, but it still certainly isn't the way I would go

Also, it may just be the effect of him running in towards the camera, but Scott looks half a yard quicker today than he usually is
