Tomorrow morning first session will be exciting. Either windies will be back in the game fast or aiden&klaasen will take the game away fast.

He has an opportunity to show us something tomorrow, we need a big innings from Klaasen , and Muthusamy has to also justify his selection..I don't think he will play for SA ever again if he doesn't do something in this innings and the 4th
Hmm this is one of the pitfalls of going horses for courses with that number 7 allrounder spot between Mulder and Muthusamy imo. You surely can't heap that much pressure on a player in a single Test. Mulder has already bore the brunt of this type of selection mindset.

Just being realistic , Maharaj comes back into the team eventually, SA usually go with one spinner. There are better batsman in SA than Muthusamy so unless he delivers in the second innings he's gonna be out the team for good just like how they did my boy Linde wrong .

My team would be and backed for 10-12 matches no matter what, maybe a change or here in the squad of 15 horses for courses, 1. De Zorzi 2. Markram, 3 Van tonder, 4 Petersen/Rickelton 5. Bavuma 6. Mulder 7. Kyle V 8, Jansen 9, Maharaj 10. Rabada 11. Nortjie, 12. Malan/Rickleton/ , 13 Richards/petersen 14 Linde 15 Harmer/Coetsee/Ngidi .
Are we even playing 10 matches in the next 12 months?

Yeah hasn't worked might as well have gone with extra batter like rickleton and let makram throw some overs with elgar if need be.

Markram batting like he is on a road. Only looks like he will get himself caught trying to smash one too hard through the covers. On the Petersen dismissal, he didn’t play it that well, bit like how he got out first innings, but Holder’s 6’7 and the ball rolled across the carpet.

As mentioned in the thread already, first session will be interesting though all outcomes favor South Africa. If Markram and Klaasen hit the Windies out of the game, they win by hundreds of runs, and if South Africa get rolled for their customary 100 all out score, they probably still win the game handily. Batting shouldn’t get easier.

In hindsight maybe, but Shukri Conrad appears to have a specific template in mind for the side - 6 batsmen, 4 specialist bowlers, and a seam or spinning allrounder depending on the conditions. There may be some matches where the extra batsman may very well have been more useful, but there'll be others where the allrounder will come into their own.

And in Muthusamy's defence, he was the most economical of the bowlers. So he has at least made some contribution to the match.

Good news, Markhram has probably secured opening position for awhile. Bad news we have found out very little from the rest of the order, except that Elgar is likely gonna keep his opening slot. Bavuma and De Zorzi got good balls. Petersen got a little bit of a shooter but Klaasen has done himself no favours. Muthusamy now needs to show that he has got enough to stay there and for Markram to not give it away like he is prone to do. It is nice to know we still have Jansen and Coetzee to follow.

They do, we have not managed to drive our advantages home at all. They will still have to bat far better than they have until now.
They got 212 in the first innings without Brathwaite getting a score , the way we are batting we will give them a target similar to their first innings ...I'm getting Sri Lanka 2018/2019 vibes here

This is some collapse. They probably still have enough though, WI didn't really look up to it in the first innings.
