Ind-Wi 1983 WC Final should also be included. In context of a surprise win, and the effect of a single match on a nation's cricketing development, the most important ODI of all time. The best? Undecided.

Can't look beyond the Aus-SA semi final in '99 taking all things into consideration.

What was at stake
Quality of players
The fun of 200-250ish scores
Even contest between bat and ball
Klusener's golden run

Only disappointing thing was SA's inability to make it to final.

And Warne bowling just the most pulsating spell ever. I will never forget the pumped up look and the 'Come On!' when he got Gibbs out.

Case for 99 Aus vs Sa: SF knockout game, two best ODI sides of the 90s, awesome performances by various ATGs, the constant swinging of the game from one side to another, the exalted finish, and the story of the most unfortunate nation in cricket crystallised in one match. The birth of the success run of the joint most dominant side in ODI history begins here. You literally see all the shades of performance here: mental resilience by Waugh, Bevan, Kallis, Gibbs, pure energy from Donald, Pollock and Warne, ice like coolness from Klusener, and then poor application under pressure from Boucher, Donald, Reiffel, and haunting as well as exhilarating in retrospect: SA's failed attempt to win a WC, the deaths of Cronje and Woolmer later, the exuberance of Aus and tears of the South Africans. And it has the saddest as well as the most enigmatic sight in all cricket: Donald's futile attempt to run to the other crease, knowing he will well fall short, and the endless wondering what on earth was he doing staring at the ball(that too endlessly), than his partner.

And the most horrific game for a fielder in history for Paul Reiffel.

Glad OP included the India Pakistan 04 Karachi odi. Voted for it because it's my favourite non world cup game and it'd be boring just voting for the usual suspects . Sehwag's blitz at the top, Dravid's silky innings, Akhtar getting him on 99 with a sassy slower ball, Inzi's glorious ton, Kaif taking maybe the one of greatest outfield catches ever, and then that hilarious last ball where Miandad was on the balcony instructing Moin how to emulate his famous last ball six

Everything about it was great, and it's one of the last non WC ODIs that felt like a truly epic occasion because it was the first game of India's historic tour of Pakistan (first one to actually have tests and odis since 1989). The entire tour was very batting friendly but also extremely entertaining and memorable.

Voted for the 2019 final. Two main reasons:

1) England won the WC.
2) In the other matches listed in the poll, England did not win the WC.

As a bonus, the match was also really great.
