He will still be English test cricket spam beneficiary. Murali will continue to lead the wicket tally of non spammers.

Sri Lankans will have to hope for a disastrous Ashes series that would force him to retire from the game...

Having spent the last 5 years saying that the forthcoming Ashes will be his final series, I should know better. But I do think that this summer's Ashes will be the last we'll see of him. So that will be 'no' to the original question, but he should pass Warne's total.

Unless anyone's in Jimmy's ear none of us know.....but if he does want to keep going for another 3 yrs one thing I'm certain of......he's capable and will still be up there as one of the best bowlers in the world while he does it.

So in essence it's up to Jimmy.......if he wants that record it's there for him to take imo

I so hope you're right. As I said on the series thread, we are watching something unique in the history of the game right now, and we'll be able to impress our grandchildren with tales of watching Jimmy's exploits. I suppose the natural pessimism in me makes me think it can't go on, but he's proved me wrong plenty of times now, so who knows,

A lot of players that I've loved have retired....Freddy and Ali Cook were the biggest ones where I thought cricket would never be the same again. But when Jimmy goes omg.....cricket will truly be dead to me I think.

So lucky we've had this gem of a cricketer for so long.......and all the haters can really kiss his ass. Every year for the last decade or more he's been proving you all wrong but still you continue to chirp and knock this incredible bowler. No 1 in the world at 40 and a serious chance of taking Muralis record that 10 years ago no one thought was touchable never mind by a quick bowler.

Only Bowlers in the Cricket History to take 275+ Wickets at home

James Anderson needs 65 Wickets to break the record of Muralidaran as the Most Successful Bowler at home.
Too bad he sucks even at home vs Australia.

James Anderson is definitely the player of this Generation. It’s very Tough even for a Batsmen to have the Longevity he has.
