The classification of Sydney Barnes as seam-up is actually pretty questionable, which might suggest Sir Jim is in with a chance of being the first ever. But it was probably actually then 40-year old South Africa bowler Geoff Chubb when he took a 6-fer at Old Trafford in 1951.

Sports science seems to be producing quicks (modern ones, not those of 1654) who go on longer and longer, so someone might actually get the 800 tbh.
Stuart Broad is 36 and showing no signs of decline. McGrath was old and didn't exactly retire a spud. Brett Lee was old and was in arguably career best form. Even a moderate bowler like Chris Martin kept chugging until 38 and probably bowled his best post 35.
Anderson might be the first of a fresher breed, which would be kinda cool tbh. Being a professional athlete at 41 is a victory of the player and how far we've come in human ability to keep chugging along in a very unnatural thing to do.

It would suck if he did it this year as we've already maxed out on additional bank holidays to stick a crown on a pensioners head.
