*Official* England in NZ 2023

Well will young, you'll never get a better chance to solidify your spot. Best 2 batters gone, best test bowler in the world on fire. They're on top, and your team is down. If young comes out of this with a solid knock, phew. At least there will be that. We're not even close to england's level to compete obviously so I've given up on even a draw.

Ugh. That's just lack of confidence. I don't really agree that it's a "bad shot" and should have been left alone - it was short and wide filth and should have been cut to the boundary i.e. exactly the "being positive" thing everyone talks about ad nauseam. If you leave that alone you're just letting the bowler get away with a bad delivery. The problem is he's just pushed at it rather than cracking it with a horizontal bat

Can't believe kiwibros brainwashed me into thinking Southee is as good as Anderson too. I repent.
A lot of bowlers have apparently been better than Anderson over times. Only Cummins and Bumrah are fit to lace his boots of current seamers that don’t play in the same team as him IMHO

Latham has an odd trigger movement going where his back foot goes back and away from the line. It's not a good position to be getting into...he's been doing it for a while but seems particularly pronounced at the moment.
Yeah he's falling over big time. Barely transferring weight on to the front when driving. You can get away on dour decks but can pose a massive problem on decks like this.

Should have been held back to face Sri Lanka at Hagley, or the Bangas at Bay Oval.
lol no that's insane

Making him open was obviously harsh and detrimental, but not selecting him at home in his preferred position just because the opposition has a couple of good bowlers would be ridiculous coddling in the opposite direction.

This is one of the things I like about Stokes' captaincy. Instead of automatically giving both openers six overs minimum, he reckons that Broad isn't quite on the money and brings on Robinson straight away, even though it's the last over from that end before lunch.

Yeah it means you're never lining up straight and your weight transfer is off - the back foot is going one way while the head and shoulders are then going towards the ball. Means you're often reaching for the ball and the hands get away from the body.
