The ATG Teams General arguing/discussing thread

This would make some kind of sense if you didn't pick Hammond, but picking him just makes this side beyond stupid.
I just choose most of the players after 1960s but Hammond was a Batsmen who was a good part time bowler so went for him. But It makes sense why you made that statement.

You should also not forget that there are 2 different type of Spinners in this Team that makes other teams have sleepless nights.

They also have all Pakistan Star Batsmen Anwar, Hanif, Younis, Inzamam, Miandad so its a formidable side.
Conway/Dempster > Anwar
Turner > Hanif
Williamson = Younis
Crowe > Inzy
Taylor < Miandad
Watling > Sarfaraz

I admit you have a better bowling attack, but we have Sir Richard the GOAT.

My England XI is a well balanced side
1) 2 Openers - Gooch* and Cook
2) No3 - Hammond
3) Middle Order - Pietersen and Root
4) Wicket Keeper - Knott
5) All Rounders - Botham and Flintoff
6) Spinner - Underwood
7) Fast Bowlers - Trueman and Anderson

But it would be stronger with a couple of openers from Hobbs/Hutton/Sutcliffe. I also think you only need one of Botham/Flintoff (obviously the former) as you have Hammond as your 5th bowler. Barrington or Compton spring to mind.

Hammond bowled but not an efficient Wicket taker. So going with 6 bowlers as the Opposition Teams are Stronger.

If this was your 1st XI I think a pretty good 2nd XI would be:
1) 2 Openers - Hobbs and Sutcliffe
2) No3 - Hutton
3) Middle Order - Barrington, Compton, May
4) Wicket Keeper - Ames
5) All Rounder - Stokes
6) Spinner - Laker
7) Fast Bowlers - Statham and Willis

Barrington and Compton combine for the 5th and 6th bowling spot.

Stokes bowled only 13.34 Overs per innings and on the other hand Flintoff bowled 18.20 Overs per innings so i went for Flintoff.
Having Willis, Statham, Laker and Stokes to beat All Time XI Teams is not sufficient in a Test Match.
