*Official* Australia in India 2023

I guess some people will only get a reality check when India does lose by 10th of June (4th day)

Will be so underprepared and get blown away by an Australian team looking to avenge their 3-0/4-0 defeat in India.

Cummins & Smith opted out of IPL this year. Australia will be ready. They hardly have test players in this year's IPL, unlike India. In fact they are playing county cricket.

For instance, there's a big difference between Australian performance in 1st test and 2nd test! They came in cold for the 1st test and stood no chance. India similarly will go in cold and will learn it the hard way.

Last time, India had an England tour 1 month later so they stayed there and got acclimatised and thus played the best they had done in England in a long time! This is what match practice & acclimatisation does!

Going into WTC final straight from IPL will not be fun to watch!

The Australians aren't exactly looking like they're not full of passengers either, and H2H have struggled enough to put this 'advantage' into doubt despite the rest of the complaint brigade.
Do you think it's par?

Personally, in the conditions specified, I reckon the lineup carrying blokes averaging in the 20s for years is not as good as the one with 4 of their bats in the top 10.

I think ratings based on home conditions shouldn't count for too much at this moment. Save all the worrying for the week before.

This isn't to say that if a lot of the main XI have a short turnaround from IPL to WTC (if it's guaranteed) it'll be good but there isn't this huge problem either anyway taking everything into account at the moment.

Yep. See all the difficulties Smith & co. are having atm evaporate then. Their seamers will reassert themselves in favorable conditions, our spinners (and their batting) will be blunted, and our top order will be even more ruthlessly exposed.

the short duration between ipl final and wtc final shouldn’t be a huge factor when only 2 teams will play in the final. what could realistically be the most number of test players involved in the final?

if we lose it will be because of Pant not being there and because we will finally pay the price for carrying this **** batting order all along

If we end up facing Australia in England in the WTC final, they will destroy us, guaranteed! Why are all the finals being held in England?

Good luck getting 11 first choice players on the ground after a 2 month IPLthon. Pujara will be playing county somewhere and making 100s but he'll fail when it matters.

See you can’t even say that with a straight face…
It wasn't a serious comment mate - I don't know why the WTC final in being played in England again.

I would imagine it's to do with scheduling. As we're the only team playing in our summer, all other teams are free.

If it was played in India for example, it would be much harder to find a couple of spare weeks when all countries don't already have fixtures planned.

cummins will beat us on his own in england. smith, labuschagne etc will be the icing on the cake. head will probably hit the fastest test 100 when we are down and out just to rub it in

I guess Oval does gives India a bit of a chance.. If it is a typical Oval pitch India would like to bat first... And hope for a Aussie implosion in 4th inns.
I don't know if they will play Ashwin. Jadeja is MVP. He did it with both bat & ball in Oval Test win vs Eng.
They need to somehow get Pandya in there as a 4th pacer over Shardul ( who is a dud these days) & ask him to bowl 10-12 overs at max.

Kela does has a good recent record but him in a ICC KO is known conclusion.
Gill has failed both in first two tests in England... Both one off games though. He is now a better player but surely he is a middle order player. Maybe ask Gujara to open & eat the new Duke.
Don't waste a quality stroke maker to the new ball.

Total fluky line up as of now. Aussies much superior in those conditions.
