Dravid just said in the press conference that india will continue to back KL Rahul
Almost seems a bit fraudulent a guy who's played 50 tests and averages 33 gets to keep playing. There's no way he's one of India's best 6 batsman.
Sarfraz Khan with an average of 80 after 54 first class innings can't get a go? Whats this rubbish about? @Indianfans

They are overcorrecting for the kohli-shastri time, as in not specifically about KL but just in terms of giving a stupid long rope to anyone who makes the team.

Its like Rahul just can't be dropped even in one day cricket they give him the wicket keeping gloves just so he stays in the team, like they sack him now from vice captain but he still in the squad for test match

Hard to say that for sure. Australia were doing just fine until they absolutely imploded today with their sweep/reverse sweep strategy. I think if they had a quality pacer instead of the SLA bowler and a less suicidal strategy today with the bat it could have been close.

Also worth mentioning that Ashwin has performed fairly well but Jadeja has been a God and without him (a lot of variables I know), then this would have been an Australian win, imo.
That's the thing. For Australia to win, everything pretty much had to go right for them, whereas the margin of error for India was much larger. India batting first these first two tests could have resulted in even bigger losses for Australia.

Seems really soft from the management. Frauds get to keep playing while those that deserve a chance are having their careers delayed.

Shouldn't have backed their serial (catch) dropper friend for that long! KL should never have been dropped for Dhawan in SA 2018 but this is almost equally ridiculous.

Doubt that would have been the case in the 1st test. The best time to bat from what we saw was late day 2, and the FC scores for the pitch recently show that batting 3rd is the best time to bat. Doubt India would have been able to pull off an innings win like the 1st test unless they batted for two days straight first up.

India's ODI team vs Australia for 3 ODI

: Rohit Sharma (Captain), Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Suryakumar Yadav, KL Rahul, Ishan Kishan (wk), Hardik Pandya (Vice-captain), Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Washington Sundar, Yuzvendra Chahal, Mohd. Shami, Mohd. Siraj, Umran Malik, Shardul Thakur, Axar Patel, Jaydev Unadkat

India will miss the services of Rohit Sharma for the first ODI - who will be unavailable due to family commitments, BCCI said in a release. Hardik Pandya will lead the side in Rohit's place.

KL Rahul returns too, at the expense of KS Bharat, but he isn't the designated vice-captain of the side this time around.

That just tells you how ahead is this Indian team at home. The worlds best team comes to India, faces the home team, who’s joint most important bowler is coming off a injury break, their top order bar Rohit is in woeful form, their best fast bowler is out and their best batter(Pant) is out for long, and heck they are even missing their second best batter currently(Iyer) for the first test. On top of that, they win very important tosses in both tests. Yet they get shellacked within 3 days both times

Quite humiliating to be stripped of the vice-captaincy mid-series for a guy who's had long-term captaincy aspirations. Vice-captaincy turning out to be cursed in Indian cricket in recent times.

Yeah, in a sense that is the difference. Australia are definitely capable of snagging a win if all goes right for them but India will win if even one out of four innings goes according to the plan for us.

This match is a good example of this, India were rather loose in Australia's first innings and gave up quite a few more runs than they should have, we then followed it up with basically imploding in our first innings. If the situation is reversed India get at least 350 if not more in the first innings and bowl Australia out for 175 in the second - all Australia had to show for all that good work was a one run lead.

India have 5 players who are at least 34, so they should have an eye on the future and the oldie bats who are not performing they need to be phasing out ASAP.

Plus, both tracks werent like the toughest spin pitches. Nagpur was nothing more than spin friendly, and Delhi while being a rank turner wasn’t as bad as the Aussie batters made it look.

He predicted Aus maybe 120 all out on Cricbuzz chatter yesterday.
Not surprising given his observant eye, ticking brain and a penchant for analysis. Predicted that India will bat only once in first test when they had just started batting, Waugh was mocking him then.

Clearly dismantled this silly term natural variation thrown around by the Aus commentators by explaining how it can be obtained deliberately by being just good enough to get the ball to pitch on either seam or on the leather.

Best batter is Rohit at home. 2nd Pant, 3rd Jaddu and then Iyer. But yes top post
