Murphy looks much better than Lyon at the same age imo.Lyon was kinda meh itbt. Nothing to read into, but he didn't threaten
Murphy genuinely looks the goods. Consistently hitting good areas and getting the ball to really drift

Apparently batting is at least statistically easier in the 3rd dig but personally can't see it getting any easier. These 3 spinners are absolutely relentlessNot sure about that.
Marnus and Smith looked good at stages and given the scoring rate will be batting on a relatively fresh pitch. I doubt they only get 1 run out of the openers again either.
It's a moot point, as I think India score 350-400.
Ashwin had worse figures than Lyon after the same amount of overs. He cleaned up the tail, as usual.Apparently batting is at least statistically easier in the 3rd dig but personally can't see it getting any easier. These 3 spinners are absolutely relentless
Honestly think the next series victory for a visiting team in India happens after Ashwin and Jadeja are gone to be honest
Yeah If you can keep India under 250, you might make a game out of it. Over 300 and it's doneAshwin had worse figures than Lyon after the same amount of overs. He cleaned up the tail, as usual.
Axel didn't particularly threaten Marnus and Smith.
The ball was absolutely hooping for the first 10 overs and Jadeja managing to get one to turn square past an advancing Marnus is the reason the game is where it is. Australia playing catchup since then and Jadeja being Jadeja just capitalizing on even the slightest batsmans error.
I doubt Khawaja gets knocked over for a pair again.
I wouldn't put 250+ past Australia in their second innings and I could see a scenario where Australia rip through India in the 4th innings if they can bowl on a 4th/5th day pitch vs a 3rd day pitch.
The game scenario entirely depends on India's lead. Which I think is likely going to be 200+
Australia were about 100 short as a minimum imo, which given they lost Warner, Khawaja and Renshaw for nothing, checks out.
Today is going to determine this test (obviously)
Oh yeah he does but he just happened to get an absolute pearler first nut (at least from that end). Can happen to anyone, it's your lot as an opener. With all the talk about Warner and Head in the lead up, Khawaja has sort of gone under the radar but he's got a lot to prove in these conditions as well. He's a very good slow deck player but I'm not confident about him if it's ragging. Obviously got a lot of credit in the bank and deservedly so, but then again I would have thought Head did as well.
Lyon took five on dayboo and pocketed Sangakkara first ball. If Murphy's looking better than that Aus will win this test handily.Murphy looks much better than Lyon at the same age imo.
I understand what he did on debut in SL.Lyon took five on dayboo and pocketed Sangakkara first ball. If Murphy's looking better than that Aus will win this test handily.
The time to drop Warner was after his magnificent man of the series performanceAshwin had worse figures than Lyon after the same amount of overs. He cleaned up the tail, as usual.

I think this side for the next turner would be a lot more competitive (assuming Green is fit), the batting lineup isn't 7 out all out either.
Head
Khawaja
Labuschagne
Smith
Handscomb
Carey
Green
Agar
Cummins
Lyon
Murphy
Haha. Yeah, we had something similar happen to us where we rolled a team for 90 and passed them 2 down on day one. The pitch and surrounding area then somehow got too wet to play on the next week, and the opposing captain had rung the umpire and told him it was too wet to play (with the dumb **** then calling it off without inspecting the playing area) at 8:30 that morning. We got a phone call from the captain as well to let us know we weren't playing while we were at breakfast. He thought it was hilarious.Man I remember playing Guildford at their home deck in the 92/93 A grade final when we were sent in on a sticky. We were 7/27 but recovered to make 170 odd (may have made a few that day but that's another tale). Had them 1/2 over night.
Came back the next day and the curator had had heaters on the deck all night plus the outfield had not only been mowed but he'd rolled the ****er too. Deck was hard as a rock and they passed us 7 down. Their blokes were ringing us at 8 am on day 2 saying "Guess what we've done." FMD I hate them. I hate them to this day.
****s. Never forgave them for it. Scum of the earth.
Has Renshaw only been batting in the middle order for Queensland, or could he replace Warner? Are there any only options who could open?I still can't get over the shot Renshaw played. Only one ball but **** me that was horrible
Warner may not last the series. I mean what is the point of taking a bloke who at best would average 30 in India and England
Head is the obvious one, he opens in limited overs and his opening form was the beginning of his big "turn around"Has Renshaw only been batting in the middle order for Queensland, or could he replace Warner? Are there any only options who could open?
Moved back up to open only this domestic seasonHas Renshaw only been batting in the middle order for Queensland, or could he replace Warner? Are there any only options who could open?
The Aussies didn't want tour games this time aroundThe lack of preparation for the away teams in test cricket is a real problem and this series typifies that.
How you can expect to be prepared for what is an extremely tough task away in India, without any warm up matches is beyond me.
One minute the Aussie batsmen are tonking the ball to all parts in the BBL, the next you're playing in India trying to keep Jadeja and Co out on a slightly tricky wicket in Nagpur.
I know it's the modern way but that doesn't make it right.
Head scored that amazing century in HobartIt is very different opening than batting 5 when you usually come in at 200+ for 3.
Think all these selection issues have brewed from the unwillingness of the selectors to tackle the Warner issue properly. He's unlikely to improve his record in India or England and should have been stepped aside. I'd be opening with Head (temporarily) because at least there's a chance he'll be able to get the pace bowlers away for a few early on.Head is the obvious one, he opens in limited overs and his opening form was the beginning of his big "turn around"
I think he'd be genuinely effective as an aggressive opener in India and probably in tests in general outside of greentops.
He'd probably be exactly what the selectors are wanting from Warner ironically.
Head has gone from whipping boy with Aussie fans, to one of the fan favourites over the last 2 years.
As well as the run a ball 92 on the GABBA greentop against Rabada, Ngidi, Jansen, Nortje that almost everyone struggled to get into double figures on.Head scored that amazing century in Hobart
