I get the feeling they'll stick with Nicholls and if Nicholls fails in the first test, and Young does well in the warm up, Young may then get the nod for the 2nd batting at 4.

I don't think it's the worst idea in the world to surround the England team with local knowledge. Devcich was pretty ordinary but he's probably played with or against most of the NZ team.
