Indian fans on here certainly seem a bit antsy in the lead up to this series.

It’s refreshing, and tbh appropriate given the lack of achievement by their team across its history over all, but I don’t see the cause for it here tbh. Lyon needs to take 10 every test for Aus to win this imo given the other spin options. Think everything will need to go right for Aus to win two tests, and they’ll need at least two to win the series

I for one am getting more and more confident as our main players get injured and we move towards our C team.

Who are these "way better guys"?

The only one I can definitely think of is Richardson and he can't bowl 4 overs without breaking down.

He will be pitching it into the rough and turning square with indian right hand batsmen poking around cluelessly...

Morris has been one of the best shield bowlers over the past 2-3 years tbf.

Guys I have a question

How many runs do you think Virat will make in this series?

0 to 100
101 to 200
201 to 300
301 to 400
401 to 500
none of the above

Does Lyon really need to perform for Aus to win this?

A head/Smith 6-fer in fourth innings will guarantee Aus one win while pacers will chip in well for rest of the series.

Yeah he genuinely does. Starc apparently out for the first two tests and like we’ve been saying, Aus second spinner options are dire tstl

I wouldn't even pick a second spinner at this stage. Just rely on Head/Marnus for some overs and have an extra bat

Yeah but you're at home and don't lose there as a rule. I'm not wanting to get into a Gambhir-off, but it would say a lot about how far India has fallen if the current Aus side beats them. Smith aside, the batting is a lottery in Indian conditions. Khawaja traditionally a good slow wicket player but I'm not sure if he's played in India or done well there. Warner a proven failure there, Marnus, Head, Green and Carey all unknown. I think Carey will do well tbh but genuinely not sold on the others.

I hope I'm wrong and can engage in some top-tier trolling in a bout six weeks' time.

Carey being in good nick and having a game he trusts against spin makes a big difference IMO; one of the big issues in 2017 was that Wade was absolutely ****ing useless and that left the tail brutally exposed. We would often be in a reasonable position at 3- or 4-down but as soon it was 5-down, the lower order simply evaporated without any cover from 6 or 7 gelling it together. Meant we were often well short of where we were hoping to be on the first innings.
