Deckchairs and the Titanic come to mind. We need Will Young and the batting order is not the issue.

I am concerned about Finn Alllen as well whos percentage of times that he comes off is very low. Last's nights delivery was gun barrel straight at his pads. Should have been hit for six. He's only excuse is that possibly it stopped on him. Would keep him anyway as you can see improvements

Here for fun is a team with 5 front line bowlers as it seems easier to think of quality bowling options right now instead of batting options.

1) Finn Allen
2) Conway
3) Kane
4) Will Young
5) Latham
6) ?????
7) Santner
8) Jamieson (looked unplayable today in the super smash)
9) Sodhi
10) Ferguson
11) Boult

Candidates for 6
List A averages
Rachin 32.08
Phillips 35.14
Bracewell 34.08
Mitchell 36.04
Neesham 33.43
Chapman 48.00
Still trust allen because of natural talent, taking down starc/haz/cummins and in general a lot of time on his hands still. In particular no batter of ours has done that to those 3 aussie bowlers in any format....maybe at home but never on away grounds. Worth a long long run imo. Yeah young absolutely has to be given a go. Chapman i'm not sure about...seems like a domestic dominator most of the times. But still pickin him over kane in t20 and nicholls in odis.

Putting aside for the moment my innate disdain for attacking batting, I actually don’t mind the idea of Allen being in the team. He’s obviously been recognised as a talent and a bit of a project player from a young age and fills a specific role.

However, at what point do we say this guy isn’t actually good enough and ask him to go away and score some runs and earn his spot in the team? The runs are not really on the board yet and I would also argue he fails the eye test - can play some cracking shots but his ability to keep out decent fast bowling is not up to standard.

There’s probably an argument for him having done enough in T20s but there really isn’t much to recommend him in ODIs yet.

Allen got 40 in the first ODI at just over run a ball. It's not as though he's just getting single figure scores. He just needs to kick on. Against Pakistan he had 29, 1, 25. I think there is enough there for them to keep backing him. Kind of the way McCullum backs Zac Crawley (maybe not the best example).

I just wish the narrative of dropping Allen to the middle order would stop, seems to be common in certain circles at the moment.
I think he would do well in the middle order as he plays spin well, but we already have guys who can do that.

Allen's definitely a luxury NZ can afford when they have so much good cake in the rest of the top five (Conway, KW, Latham) and also bat deep (Santner at 8, often some other kind of bowling allrounder at 9). Even if he just averaged 30 @ 110 it'd be totally worth it.
Jamieson has been in good form in the Super Smash. He should be back in the next series at 9. And yes, Allen definitely has a place in the NZ team which need hitting power apart from Philips and Bracewell, something that the other top 4 of Conway, Kane, Latham and Mitchell don't provide much.

I doubt if both Kohli & Rohit play today vs Nz at Indore 'cause they are busy with 3 day Ceremony of k rahul & Athiya shetty's ( Bollywood filmi star)wedding.

Jadeja will play 4 day Domestic today at Chennai, Yesterday Pujara hits 93 ( Completed 12000 FC runs)in Domestic, so i wish Both Kohli & Rohit should also play Domestic after 6 year so they gets use to for longer format. Nz /Eng and pak players regularly play domestic but indian playrs not angaged other than ODI & test or t20i but never play Domestic. Gill use to play for Delhi regularly but eversince he selected in indian team he not playing Domestic. Not easy to Adapt ODI or t20I to 5 day test.

Haven't generally been much of a fan but hope they give Tickner another game, he wasn't that far off being pretty good the other day.
In fact hopefully any players that haven't played in recent times get given a trot.

Whatever it takes!!!
How many FC teams are there in India? And what's the standard like?

And the standard is as you would expect with that many teams. We have a nominal Pate division but that has only 8 teams or something. Rest all play the Elite Division as 4 groups of 6 or whatever.

It has to be divided to 20 teams in Elite and 18 teams in Plate. Only then will the competition and standard improve.

This discussion is to be taken to Dhaba though.

Yeah there are 28 serious teams. The Indian government actually passed some insane law to say each state needed to have its own FC cricket team so the BCCI created a bit of a joke division for the ten states that weren't already in the Ranji, and you get some pretty ridiculous-looking stats from the actual FC-standard players who play in that Plate League.
