Yeah! How good is he? Genuine question

What's most promising is he seems to stand up and deliver regularly even while everyone else is failing around him. I know Burgey's got big wraps on the young man
He’s certainly a cut above Sangha, Gilkes, Holt and Edwards. Up til this year he had struggled a bit vs pace so I tentatively had him pegged as no good because good player of spin who can’t cop pace are inferior and emasculated, but he seems to have improved that part of his game a lot. Definitely one to watch.

His younger brother has big wraps on him too, though I’m not sure how much of that is coat tailing. He played for Manly in Greenies the same year as Burgeinho’s team beat them in the final. He was playing a couple of years up tbf to him. Got badged in the final

He's a fantastic player. Smashed a double hundred and hit 6 6's in an over batting in the middle order in a 50 over u19 game and then smashed 90(35) vs a good JP U19 side at the warmups for the 2020 U19 WC before having a really poor tournament.

Has had inconsistent stints at BBL level for a few years now. Did well in first 2 games, hit 80 odd runs in 2 innings and smashed nabi for 4 or 5 sixes in an over, then struggled for Gametime due to a mix of struggling vs the short ball, injuries and the thunder randomly shuffling him around the order. Similar story in domestic one day. Made 50 on debut coming in at 3 for **** all then didn't get games cause of injury and a few ugly dismissals to the short ball.

He made a run a ball 120 vs the touring Windies team earlier in the summer though facing most of his balls from the Quicks, reckon he's worked out his short ball issues, which is amazing since that was the only thing holding him back from being a gun, was always reputed as a fantastic player and hitter of spin, struck at over 100 vs spin across his entire club/grade career apparently.

Whatever it takes!!!
SA is affiliated with IPL and UAE has many IPL owners

India would be happy to kill off the BBL
I dont think this is true at all. Sure, they may wanna prioritize the leagues where their franchises own sides but if CA makes the franchises available for corporates and (dunno about the laws in Aus around FDI, but assuming they could) some of the IPL franchises buy a few of these BBL franchises, they will become important too. There is no reason anyone wants lesser of this pie. They will figure out a way to have all 3 leagues run between December and January without clashes too.

Just to add on to this about the younger brother - I Genuinely believe he will end up being the better player. He’s already a better fielder, and he can bowl too so that’s something on Ollie. Batting wise Ollie is ahead for sure, but I think once Joel makes the inevitable step up into the state sides that he will be the better player. Good times ahead for the best state in the land

Ok that's for the info, I didn't know much about the ground they were playing on.
Well, it's an exaggeration, but in my limited experience observing matches there it is even slower and lower bouncing than Manuka, which has a deserved reputation of being a friendly deck for batting. Canberra pitches simply have little pace and bounce due to the soil.

Johnson has real talent

He’s 27 though and it wouldn’t surprise me if he’s fast tracked

Whats the go with the heat and sidelining talented players for so long? Left arm pacer who can consistently hit 140 and passes 150 on occasion has to wait till he's 27 and brown has to spend 5+ years murdering every grade attack in Queensland to get a game at 29. It's not like the heat are that good a team either.

Johnson is from SA & has only just joined but Brown is typical Queensland

Heat has Usman, Labu & Renshaw in top 4 on red ball reputation

Brown, Bryant and McSweeney should be their future

They’re long overdue for a management clean out with Lehmann & Seccombe being on borrowed time for years

It's a bit harsh on marnus and to say that there in entirely on red ball reputation isn't it? Marnus has gunned it for glamorgan in the t20 blast 2 years straight now and balances the heat side nicely at 3, I know the junk he bowled vs the scorchers is still fresh but a season ago he was taking wickets for fun and dragged the heat into the playoffs. Agree on the managment though, there's a reason both lynn and cutting ****ed off in the way they did. They had a shield winning captain in pierson playing regularly and kept on giving the captaincy to lynn, was absolute insanity.

I must say, while Johnson always had the reputation for being quick by Adelaide grade standards, I must say I didn't expect him to be quite this rapid though, not sure if he has made some slight action changes or is just reaping the benefits of having probably the longest uninterrupted stretch of cricket of his career. Either way, is so excellent to see him going well like this

Will be absolutely gutted of he doesn't get a Shield dayboo this season. Especially considering since the start of last season he would be averaging about 15ish for West Torrens with the ball

You've been hyping him up for a bit and you have a real pace fetish so I was expecting basically exactly what we've got.

He might not be able to sustain it for longer than four overs though.

Anyone who is both South Australian and actually fast is pretty much a god among men as far as I'm concerned. Probably right that his work over longer spells isn't quite as express, would probably be more in the 138-142 range at a guess but not saying that with any particular confidence. Have to rewatch some of the old grade stuff on youtube sometime soon
