I'd have thought they're more likely to play the three spinners given Jadeja is only just returning from injury?
Yeah I'm sure they'll be turners and Axar will play instead of the third quick, especially since all the spinners #CanBat.

Handscomb apparently had a hip injury in club cricket on the weekend, and while I wish him well, it may at least lead to a real keeper being sent as a substitute. There is no way he is up to keeping in a Test match on any deck let alone a turner.

The batting of the Australian bowlers is a real worry if Green isn’t fit

There’s 10 frontline bowlers in the squad and 7 should be batting 10/11

Of the remaining 3, Starc and Green are injured while I am being incredibly generous to call Agar a frontline bowler based on what we have seen from him

Squad of 18 and still has big holes in it

Some achievement

Not having a reserve wicketkeeper seems especially egregious when the new sub rule means there is immediate benefit to having a quality replacement in the squad, not just for the following match for which a replacement can be flown over (the excuse they are going with).

I understand the decision to let Inglis play first class cricket but can we not pick say Wade (I know he doesn't keep in FC anymore) who is otherwise basically playing out his FC career with Tasmania in the Shield, but can be trusted to step in and keep up to the wicket moreso than Handscomb. We could even justify the selection as such, to avoid it appearing like Inglis had been looked over.

If there was a reserve keeper, would it be between Inglis and Whiteman?

EDIT : don't know the merits of either as a pure wicketkeeper, but have heard good things of Whiteman
I like Phillipe, and would love him to fulfil his undoubted potential, but don't think he's ready for tests

Whiteman hasn't kept in years. Inglis by far and away the most likely, if not him then Pierson is probably next in line after that
Oh really? Thought he was still a gloveman in FC cricket. Remember there were murmerings that he was the best pure gloveman in the country bar Paine. But this was probably a good 4-5 years ago now

Not as if travelling to India is like chucking your gear into the car and driving from Bankstown to SCG either

Nah pretty much a specialist opening bat these days.

Had some pretty major finger injuries, so I guess he is like Paine in that sense

He’s a better bat than Harris so at least he do us the favour of not seeing him again

you mean we will not play a keeper if Rahul doesn’t do it? bold strategy there
I do not think india dare to try Bharat/ Jitesh sharma or someone from Domestic cricket.
Rahul is okayed even with his some Limitation of Level 1 keeping.

Saha also best keeper but i do not know if he is active or not.
