welp ZCC losing two early wickets batting first of a flat deck to Winton. that's it for us today. Been such a bad season for us.

lol he's bowling such utter shite too. That said, given the game between the two sides earlier today it might be a blessing in disguise for your openers to head.

Shahboss' innings:
  1. Attempts to leave a wide half-tracker, but he is beaten for pace by a 78.9 kph ball, and gets a leading edge on it. No ball called
  2. A little quicker, full on middle, defended. Zilch movement in the air or off the pitch
  3. Winton this time gets a bit of turn. Furqan plays down the wrong line anyhow, and overbalances just enough to be stumped by Chambers
A true masterclass!

yea I probably need to start setting higher MAS's in my default order. Had good success for a while but since i've reverted back to the 4 bowler combo i've toned it down.

Doesn't really matter when you lose 2 wickets inside the first 5 overs tho, and Raun's gone too so this game is cooked.

Been a real bad couple of seasons for this outfit. Even this season, we've only won 1 league game, but were in winning positions in all the others but somehow squandered them away. Not sure what needs shaking up. Ratings are fine, and there are isolated good performances, just the unit as a whole isn't working. Stark contrast to FHK who continue to punch above their weight.

Heyo, FHK 91/5 vs Charminister! Interesting to see how they dig themselves out of this hole.

Robin Oxley being brought back in to the GG CC setup after a period of 2 weeks deliver for them with a solid 100 which propelled the team to 276

This score being enough for them as they bowed out the opposite for 216.

A good result for us
Oxley is also currently doing the business against Jura - fightint to bring GG to a competitive total - could have hoped to have knocked them over for 150 without him!

He almost got 2 hundreds in two games. Good to have him back in the team at the expense of the more experienced Keith Tindall.

Anyways, congrats to Jura CC

Thanks SCC - Robin and JayRaj weren't really supported by your middle order which left you 20-30 runs short on this pitch I think. I had half an eye on the game and was alarmed with the decline of Salman - and he just wouldn't get out ! thankfully Pickering was in good form so Salman's prods did not cost us the game, though he did cost us a bonus point i think!

Unless there is majority support for above idea I would prefer top 2 go straight to semis with 3rd v 6th (winner plays 2nd) and 4th v 5th (winner plays 1st). I think it would give due reward for finishing in top 2 whilst being simpler.

Not sure if I'm missing anything obvious but it also seems like the quoted system is a harder system to duly reward top spot without repetition. In the above SF1 is likely to be a repeat of Eliminator 1 if results go with league position. If you swap the semi-finals over the winner in league phase lose their advantage at semi-final stage. Whereas simpler method limits this duplication - lose and you are out whilst still giving top 2 an advantage of reaching semi-finals automatically and giving 1st the chance to play lower ranked side in semi-finals if results go by league position.

I have just been asked about the format and realised I didn't make a seperate post making it absolutely clear so for anyone else who was unsure

The top 6 go through to the playoffs.
The top 2 go straight through to the semi-finals.

3rd face 6th. 4th face 5th. The winner of these 2 ties go to the semi-finals.

Semi-finals

1st plays the winner of 4th v 5th
2nd plays the winner of 3rd v 6th.

Than final.

Did you give him any pace training or was he born like that?
He was a mercenary buy about 3 or 4 seasons ago (not home bred) so I gave him no training. Suspect he was trained up to that point though. He was just meant to be a stop gap allrounder before Coetzee takes his place (last season)... but he has been invaluable and just keeps contributing above his skill levels, so maintained his place.

Mooo up against FHK today without our two strike bowlers who have gotten of age and therefore out of DEV cricket, so will have two young guns, Ozzie Walker and Josh Elkington in the bowling charge today

Was just looking at the Top 50 WR - Congratulations to the 3 CWC teams who are currently in that Top 50

GG CC 42 nd - 890 points (founded less than 3 years ago)
Free HK 31 st - 934 points (founded less than 3 years ago)

and amazingly:

ataraXla 13th - 1,054 points (only 13 points off Top10 and founded less than 2 years ago)

It seems incredibly rare to break into the Top 50 , let alone the Top 20 in less than 2 years - most slots are occupied by the 7 year + brigade
In fact no -one above you has played for less time than you - so many congratulations on perhaps the greatest achievement ever

Out of interest only 3 teams have broken into the Top10 in less than 3 years (the affiliate of the MOD Tonk who has been around for coming up to a decade as a manager , the affiliate Daft Serious of Pest who has managed for 5 and a half years - making only The Penguin Squad after 2 years and 10 months as a genuinely fresh manager to Stumped of under 3 years). Remove these 3 from the averages and the remaining 9 teams in the Top 12 have been logging in for just under an average of 8 years (it's an old man's game!)

Truly then it can be said that atarxla is an enigma ! the greatest, fresh young buck manager in the game! We should pay more attention to him !!

Haha, Elkington took 3 wickets while Ozzie Walker got bashed…yet still we triumphed over FHK.

All good for their experience tho, since both of these guys have potential with the ball near-50

I agree, @ataraxia is an enigma when it comes to managing a team. He took a certain Michael Winton out of Mooo CC and made him a world-beater!

Asia. Easier to get to div 1 and a much easier div 1. Believe me, many other CW teams could do the same!*

* if they were to make their pitch dry and play 4 spinners / 1 pacer
