*Official* New Zealand vs Pakistan 2022/23

Neil Young

State Vice-Captain
What are you all thinking regarding a possible declaration? Do the Kiwis declare with around a 280-300 lead and give Pakistan a sniff and risk potentially losing? Or bat into tomorrow for a possible lead around 350-380? Obviously a massive collapse could occur at any moment and change this, but interested in what others think.
It might be better if we're bowled out because I can imagine we'll bat them (and probably us along the way) out of the game.

320ish should be plenty. The highest run chase here is 315, that famous one wicket win when Inzi was blessed by Shakoor Rana. 75 runs in an hour is doable.

Only issue with hitting out is that our tail starts after this wicket.

Mitchell's konkussed kolon should allow us to sub in Glenn Phillips for some biff imo.

300 plus absolute minimum, it was born a road, still is a road, always will be one.

Credit to these two for preventing a collapse even if it's been pretty unconvincing at times.

Excellent tour for Blundell so far. Kept well and made important runs in what are probably not his preferred conditions.

Took 10 balls after drinks for us to score a run. Not sure what that says about our approach.

One thing to keep in mind with the chase history is Pakistan missed out on a lot of cricket at true home. The most recent chase on that list kn tv was like 2003.1

Good opportunity now for Bracewell to use his T20 chops. But seems to have put that aside completely for now.

What is with these commentators shilling for BazBall ffs. The players are not there to ‘manufacture a result’
Exactly, history counts for nothing when you get pitches as flat as this on days 4 & 5. Setting Pakistan 320ish in around 95 overs with our bowling attack is a gimme.

They're the home team, set them 380 off 75 overs if you can and they can take the initiative to chase it.

Yeah the comms are going overboard. Not too long ago that NZ were in serious trouble, Nicholls getting out, Mitchell unavailable and Bracewell looking a walking wicket.

Yea, don't mind if nz grind to 300 lead at least then maybe look at being slightly more aggressive. I think the spinners would have a field day with the lower order at the moment
