Australia will score runs on this pitch , Best team in the world at capitalising on a road ..I predict Steven Smith will get a hundred

You seem to think I would suddenly expect our batting to score lots more runs…. I don’t, I expect them to learn and grow. See the support and time comment. And also we could hopefully figure out which of those ten are good enough for test cricket long term. We need to spend time rebuilding back to a winning team… current team selection gives us no chance for that.
Fair enough, while I still disagree I can at least partly see where you are coming from there

My personal view is very much that players learn little from being really thrown in the deep end too early, such a thing is far more likely to have a net negative effect on future career prospects imo

Im not talking about picking 19 year olds. I’m not a bring Brevis in person… we have plenty of other talent in the 22 to 27 year age range to try first. Just not fan of picking players like Erwee who have no future in Test cricket time or capability wise.

Janneman Malan , Raynard Van Tonder, Ryan Rickleton , Joshua Richards, Marques Ackermann ...

Hell even for the quota brigade you don't select a 32 year old Zondo ..
The most in form Black batsman in the country is Tony De Zorzi whose still young , and there is also Qeshile who should have been in Test squads by now as an investment, even Zubayr Hamza should not have been discarded so early ..

Leus Du Plooy aswell but I heard he wants to play for England , a shame really he was in our system even got a hundred against Sri Lanka way back in 2013 for SA Emerging .. Excellent player , bowls handy off spin too ... Allrounder wise I still have hopes that Mulder can crack test cricket, and the way George Linde has been treated across all formats has been disgraceful by CSA

Bold, quite bold
It most certainly is ..Steven Smith doesn't normally do well against South Africa, well not as well as the rest of the teams he faces ...In 10 test matches against us he averages 39 ...Every other team he has faced in 5 test matches or more he averages 49 and above . But he should address that in this test

This is a decent recovery from complete disaster , but Australia knows they can easily get the last 4 wickets for less than 50 once this wicket falls so in the match context they are still on control ...I'm sure the veterans will be reminding the bowling attack at every opportunity that one wicket can change things very quickly.
