*Official* Australia vs South Africa -2022/3

No the future is an Australian boot stamping on a cricketers face, forever. At least at home.
I'm not so optimistic. I feel like I'm watching an old man struggling to walk up stairs and he's about to fall and there is no one to stop him.

For entirely unproven rookies, yes

Elgar isn't perfect, but South Africa pretty clearly don't have the batting depth to get away with tossing aside the one guy in this lineup who has shown the ability to perform in Test cricket semi regularly
Pretty sure one of the younger players can also manage 28...We are talking about a 35 year old, there is no future in sticking with him...

Get Lyon on against these two over Green. Cummins field shows how good the surface is for batting.

but that’s the lie… SA have plenty of batting talent. They just not getting selected and to now talk about the lack of experience is a choice that was made 5 years ago to pick older ‘experienced’ journeymen rather than choose younger talented batsmen and give them time and support. So now we sit with plenty of talented 23-27 years not getting selected because they lack experience… it circular pathetic thinking of people not taking ownership that they have royally ****ed up SA cricket.
I fail to see how you can honestly believe this, the South African domestic scene clearly isn't what it once was, expecting raw young players to shine straight away when brought into a strong team is enough of a long show, expecting them to shine straight away in a weaker team is somewhere between wildly optimistic and downright insane

This whole the grass is always greener mindset is a total fallacy imo

You seem to think I would suddenly expect our batting to score lots more runs…. I don’t, I expect them to learn and grow. See the support and time comment. And also we could hopefully figure out which of those ten are good enough for test cricket long term. We need to spend time rebuilding back to a winning team… current team selection gives us no chance for that.

Crazy that Jansen has had 2/3rds of the strike. It's like a guy on 50 protecting a tailender, except this time Jansen's the worse batsman.

Will be interesting to see how South Africa bowl on this. On the one hand, they basically threw away all of their wickets (bar perhaps Bavuma) and the deck looks quite flat now. But equally, this SA bowling unit is strong so they might be able to get something out of it too. Australia will want to dismiss them pretty quickly.
