England test tour of Pakistan December 2022

Whatever it takes!!!
We prodded our way to that. We would be on 72 in 15 overs this time.
wrong by how much? :p

I sincerely hope this series is enough to give Babar the boot.

The thing with bad captains is that they can destroy any interest you have in following a team. Because he automatically know that the team is not playing to their potential and is not capable of punching above their weight. Kind of like England under Root.
They will do better man. Getting rid of Rambo is more important than getting rid of Babar.

Slightly unrelated topic, but how do we think Duckett will hold up long term opening in England? I remember slot of the discussion about his earlier career was his inability to play spin, and he's clearly worked on that. Is he a long term option that England can rely on or will good pace bowling work him out?

I think the jury is still out.

He's done very in Pakistan but its a different kettle of fish opening up against Cummings and Co with the Dukes ball.

Having said that he's done well opening for Notts. He deserves his chance and we're not exactly spoiled for choice.

Australians always struggle to find the correct length in English conditions. They are used to bowling just short of a length and even if they pitch it up they don't move the ball late. Starc is one bowler with the ability to move it in the air but he wasn't a success when he toured last time.
If we see the same pitches which were produced against NZ, India and SA then it's definitely advantage England.

And everyone knows Warner and company are horrendous playing the moving ball. And their friend and tormentor Archer will also be back to give them some chin music!

I thought he was considered strong against spin so selected for Asian tours?

The thing I like about this series win is that everyone played their part when it was most needed, a total team effort. Although Root should have scored big in this series.

England's new batting style has basically rendered small-ish fourth innings chases a foregone conclusion. I suppose a good bowling attack can still get stuck into them but half the battle in those situations is mental and England atm have that part worked out.

My only concern with Bazball is that to counter it we might see teams bowling negative defensive lines to the batters. Bowling wide of the off stump or to leg side fields. That will kill the attacking nature of the bowlers and will dull the game. Just my opinion..I might be wrong.

We’ve had a glimpse of that with Nauman Ali bowling wide of leg stump repeatedly

That's the beginning of things to come. Test cricket will loose it's charm if the bowlers who win you games bowl defensively. And I don't want Test matches become a longer version of T20s.

To even the contest between bat and ball I suggest the new ball should be taken after 50 overs rather than 90. Yes, it might sound absurd but that's my opinion to give bowlers some advantage.

a good way to even the contest would be binning off pitches like the one at Rawalpindi for starters

Have seen a few people on here express concern that it will end up being the beginning of traditional fans disillusioned. We’ll see.
