England test tour of Pakistan December 2022

I know your joking here....but there is a lot of talk about Zaks privileged upbringing. Does anyone realy think that Stokes and Bmac would entertain any of that? Past England sides for sure but not this one no way. None of us see it but obviously those 2 see something in this bloke and its 100% nothing to do with familly.
you might well be able to say this with absolute confidence if he's spent ten tests averaging 27 but when it's thirty tests and it's widely clear he really sucks i don't think you can honestly

Do you really think Stokes and McCullum behind closed doors are cursing about how bad Crawley is and wishing he had a poorer Dad so they could drop him and improve their team?

Nah, Adders is right, they clearly do genuinely rate him, however odd that may seem to guys like us on CW.

i think there are certain factors that go into this narrative that "but crawley just looks like a test cricketer" that include the fact he's an upper private school whiteboy

I don’t really believe he’s only in the team because of his dad, but he really isn’t good enough for test cricket and the way stokes and some media talk about him you’d think he was a Big Four level generational talent. There are other batsmen who deserve the chances he’s been given.

And the argument there aren’t any other openers doesn’t wash. Crawley isn’t an opener either. Kent have 4 better openers on their books. Jack Leaning, Ben Compton, Daniel Bell-Drummond and Joe Denly.

I know it's easy and fun for some to slag off Crawley but on this occasion is it not right to commend a very good bowler getting his man in difficult batting conditions?

I've never been sure he's the best fit opening but well bowled Abrar.

Except for the fact the alternative was Zahid, Pakistan would have been better off playing another spin bowler rather than debuting a bowler who's played 7 FC matches with an economy of 4.1.

Quite nice to wake up and see some fairly good progress. Lots of singles which suggests they’ve been fairly untroubled.

Got onto TMS with Aggers saying ‘they’ve hardly had to flap their wings, just riding the thermals’ which I thought was a nice metaphor for the batting, turns out they were actually talking about birds.

That's unexpected I'd say.

Nauman got ****ed over by putrid pitches both in the Oz series and in QEA. No way he's worse than Zahid.
