Clearly harder challenges ahead from pace attacks on quicker pitches but he will feel comfortable at this level now which will help.

Zaltz on TMS confirmed no one from England have hit more runs in their first 6 innings (only Miandad and Vinod Kambli have more) and that no England player has hit 3 tons in their first 4 tests (full list Headley, Morris, Hunte, Gavaskar and Azharuddin).

Must say, my impression of Ahmed's bowling from the highlights (not the best source I know) is that he looks quite suited to limited overs but less so tests. He turns his googly a lot, his leg break not so much, is not particularly accurate, and bowls a rather flat blah trajectory.

For an 18 year old with three First Class matches played he looks quite promising.
