He may become a 35-40 bat... not likely he will be better than that, can always hope!. Still pretty good for a wicketkeeper bat.Is it still reasonable to expect that Verryenne's monster FC batting stats can translate to a good Test batting career?
Umm no. Australia and India are the top two teams in the world rankings atm and rightfully so.Look out, Aussies: South Africa names powerful squad for first Tests since Sandpaper-gate

This is an interesting 3 test series. This is the best pace attack South africa will have ever fielded on a tour to Australia, and the best pace attack South africa will have fielded in a series. Prior series Ngidi was injured.
These are the top 2 ranked test nations and rightly so - by a fair distance the pace bowling attacks are some of the best fielded in the sport.
The weakness is in the batting lineups, all susceptible to sustained pace or the moving ball. No real great batsmen exist (against the moving ball) on either side in my opinion. This will be a real true test of Steven Smith's ability.
Kagiso Rabada, Marco Jansen, Lungi Ngidi and Anrich Nortje
If the pitches take sideways movement, Aus team will be in trouble. Ditto South african batters, not the best batting lineup in cricket, will all cave in to the GOAT Cummins or others like Boland/Haze and Even Green. The main plus for Aus batters is that SAF bowlers, have little experience in Aus conditions apart from Rabada.
Jansen - SAF left arm bowler, is a particular standout with 18ave from 7 games and a strike rate in the mid 30s. He is really fast and takes wickets in spades. Still early in his career, first tour to Aus.
If Aus make the pitches a bit flat(which they should do - to avoid being beaten) - then it could be a Draw.
You would think SAF would play a four prong pace attack in melbourne & Brisbane. Maharaj is the weak link so they wont play him. SYD match is where Maharaj the finger spinner will have to play and leave out one of them depending on form/fitness.
Aus will play Starc at the Gabba and MCG- he has an ave of 13 at the G and 17 at the MCG. Boland will play in the MCG at least - last year he was simply unplayable. Cummins will play all 3 tests if fit. Haze will be rotated with Boland. Depends on fitness after the WI test series. Guys like Jhye are persistently injury prone- he has been ruled out again. Neser will be the pace backup again. Cam Green is the Aus version of "Kallis" here.
Lyon will play all 3 tests, Aus dont play a 4 prong pace attack.
Precisely.South Africa always seem to lift and have someone pull a miracle performance from their arse when touring Australia.
Should be 3-0 or 2-1 at worst . The warm up performances should be disregarded. They never have faced an attack of Aus calibre. The plan is not to out bat teams, it is to cobble together 300-350 and then just hope the bowlers don't have a bad day. That's how SA win Test matches these days. I wouldn't be surprised if they win a Test, but realistically it's going to be 3-0.
David Warner, Cameron Green, Alex Carey in form?Aus won't lose more than 1 game max. The entire batting line-up is in form.
The main ones I mean in form. Warner should retire, he's been way past it. Green not much match play due to not being needed. Carey is a wicketkeeper, is consider him a tail ender almost.David Warner, Cameron Green, Alex Carey in form?
I might not be to good at geography. but is Melbourne and Hobart a suburb of Perth ?Perth is more of a South African home ground than an Australian.
In each of the 3 series wins South Africa had in Australia, they won a crucial test in Perth convincingly.
Without Perth, South Africa wouldn't have won any of the 3 series.
Luckily this time, there is no Test in Perth. So I am expecting a clear series win for Australia, 2-0 or 3-0
Take out Perth and South Africa wins none of the 3 series. They won a test in Perth every single time and that too by a big margin.I might not be to good at geography. but is Melbourne and Hobart a suburb of Perth ?
But it doesnt change the fact they won in other places to help win the series. Otherwise it might have been drawsTake out Perth and South Africa wins none of the 3 series. They won a test in Perth every single time and that too by a big margin.
Just because they won 2 tests elsewhere in the remaining 6 tests, doesn't change the fact above.
Lots and lots of expats…Why is Perth more of a SA home ground?
You should never discount Warner. He has always responded strongly when people had given up on him. Predicting him to be in the top 3 run-getters in the series, which will be a marvelous achievement with Smith, Labu, Khawaja and Head in top form. The main ones I mean in form. Warner should retire, he's been way past it. Green not much match play due to not being needed. Carey is a wicketkeeper, is consider him a tail ender almost.
Does that include the one he didn't bat inAlso, Green has failed only in the last 2 tests that he played.
No, I am just referring to the last two tests that he batted. He has actually batted in only 23 innings out of 16 tests which is quite low for a number 7 batsman.Does that include the one he didn't bat in
