Yeah Duminy and Faf come to mind massively here.South Africa always seem to lift and have someone pull a miracle performance from their arse when touring Australia.
How many of them have actually played against Aus in a test series?I'm not confident of a series win but this current generation does not fear Australia and should be competitive
Duminy twice in fact - '08, in that big partnership with Steyn, and in that huge partnership with Elgar in '16. And he did **** all of note in between.Yeah Duminy and Faf come to mind massively here.
Think it'll come down to the pitches. If they're flat I don't think SA will hurt us much because their batting is so poor. If they're greener though then it becomes a bit of a lottery, and the chances of someone pulling a Duminy 08/Faf 12/de Kock 16 and hold their batting well enough to keep their bowlers competitive become a lot higher.
We haven't beaten them here in a live Test in 17 years. That is a big mental barrier that the side needs to cross.
About half the squad. And guys like Nortje will not be intimidated by Aussies. The SA batting will crumble under a hard stare though…How many of them have actually played against Aus in a test series?
Is it still reasonable to expect that Verryenne's monster FC batting stats can translate to a good Test batting career?CAXI vs SA Cricket Scorecard, Tour Match at Brisbane, December 09 - 12, 2022
