*Official* Australia vs West Indies - Frank Worrell Trophy 2022

Neither was the Perth Stadium wicket in 2019
That was still fairly flat in my memory. Both subsequent tests (NZ and WI) at Perth Stadium did not have a pitch that lived up to the India match. I reckon CA probably told the groundsman to make it more docile, as neither were nearly as quick.

I won't lie, I'm pretty gutted at the energy levels shown in this evening session. There's no excuse for that.

To give some idea of the injuries we have though, Omar Phillips has been called up from Aussie club cricket just to field. He's the guy that keeps letting it through his legs. He doesn't even play FC cricket anymore.
Damn dude. Not even a Washy or Natarajan T20 specialist who could do a job?

Like, I get that with the injuries fielding a Test quality attack might not be possible but the intensity here isn't even FC level either.

Maybe morale is that low in the camp?
How would your moral be bringing this squad to Australia, and after the drumming in the first test?

Also fun fact, Marnus is the 8th fastest batsman to 10 test centuries. 3 Australians, 3 West Indians and 1 Englishman ahead of him. Bonus points if you can name em without googling.

not true Hobart wickets in Tests are usually actually quite flat
Ehhhh it depends. The Hobart pitch was a pancake earlier in its history but I'm pretty sure it was relaid at some point and the groundsman started leaving more grass on it to make the surface that Jackson Bird knows and loves normal.

I saw Omar play in VTCA a couple times pre Covid. Brenton Parchment was also in that league. Miguel Cummins played in it last year as well.

There was the South Africa Test that was a real green top too I guess

but other than that every other one I can remember has been a pretty flat wicket, unlike the Shield wickets there

I think we've played there 5 times in the last decade or so (2011/12, 2012/13, 2015/16, 2016/17, 2021/22). I'd say three of them were very green, the other two were fairly flat though. And it was o/c a massive road before about 2010 or so.

SA, NZ, England were green. SL was fairly flat and dry. The WI pitch was not as flat as the score would indicate, WI's bowling was up there with the worst ever seen in this country.

The one in the ashes wasn't flat at all
Yeah fine 3 out of the last 10 haven't been flat, my bad

anyway I wasn't trying to discredit the NZ win in 2011 based on that. Just responding to your comparing it to subsequent tours and pointing out that they haven't really got those conditions here since to give them a chance
