subversive take here but aside from sydney iirc every game in the johnson ashes was fairly close, and it was just that we happened to win all the key moments (well we didn't "just happen to", we clutched them), thus making it a blanking lol
If Haddin didn’t make runs England could easily have won one or two of the games.

Haddin scored a lot of innings that took poor to okay positions to great ones, but otherwise not really. We got a lead of 398 at Adelaide.

The thing is those are just regular paddlings and teams like England being hopeless. This is a different level, England haven't brought an attack this slow down here since 1950.
Again, we're decimated with injuries. Philip is bowling 10kph slower than usual, we're one bowler down who was a replacement for our most experienced bowler. We didn't even bother replacing our best young quick either.

These are pretty exceptional circumstances, not reflective of our usual attack

Ehhhh, I don't really agree. Adelaide wasn't close at all. Brisbane was a blowout from Day 2 onwards. Even Perth while not a blowout wasn't really all that close either.
Yeah but they at least seem to give a semblance of a crap. Not seeing that with the Windies team here
I guess? But in saying that the WIndies did look like they cared at Perth for large chunks of the game, and I think most of the sides that Australia have belted weren't 100% committed either. YMMV though.

Ehhh India only looked like winning a Test because of declarations. Plus those wickets were even flatter than the usual Australia standard.

The answer is probably that 07/08 series against India. And before that.....I honestly can't remember.
Yeah India's bowling was an abomination in the 14-15 tour apart from Brisbane first innings where we had Australia in huge trouble. Still made runs to keep it competitive but were never going to take enough wickets.

NZ drew in 2011 tbf, which seems ridiculous now looking at how the 2015 and 2019 tours went with much better NZ teams.

"Carved away" is common bit of commentary for a cut behind square, but it just really does seem to fit how Head plays it better than anyone else.

His name should be Travis Carver tbh.

Daily reminder that Carver > Wade.

I disagree, he bats more like he's swinging an axe

Like, I get that with the injuries fielding a Test quality attack might not be possible but the intensity here isn't even FC level either.

Maybe morale is that low in the camp?

That was mostly the result of a Hobart greentop that was very atypical of Australian Test pitches, it was basically a lottery at times that made NZ's trundlers as dangerous as Aus' quicks.

NZ have got nothing but roads for their tours here since lol

....

Did you just write off the India 2014-15 series because it was on roads while also writing off the NZ series because they got a seamer friendly deck. Pick one ffs.

I won't lie, I'm pretty gutted at the energy levels shown in this evening session. There's no excuse for that.

To give some idea of the injuries we have though, Omar Phillips has been called up from Aussie club cricket just to field. He's the guy that keeps letting it through his legs. He doesn't even play FC cricket anymore.

tbf that's very typical of hobart and we just don't play there because we're cowards and our batsmen can't score on non disney channel pitches and the like

Well yeah. They're just facts. 2 Tests in the India series were drawn because of the flat wickets. Greentop helped NZ win in 2011 by evening the odds.

Both are true
