The first team is a team of specialists while the second team is more all-round. In the first team, you only have to be on a roll as a bowler and get the top guys out and then they will struggle to bat out 50 overs. In the second team, good batsmen will keep coming at you even if you dismiss the top 3.

I think you are vastly underestimating the difference in batting quality of Sachin + Lara+ Viv vs Jaya + Gilly+ Abbas.
