Just change Flintoff to Symonds. Greatly improves the batting and fielding.

But Symonds is an even worse bowler than Klusener. Meanwhile Flintoff is among the very best bowler in the format.

Quick Statsguruing suggests the number 7 will face around 6 overs on average. According to the team we have so far, he'll need to bowl his full quota most of the time too.
He's not in contention for this spot obviously but one guy who fits this role perfectly in the real world is Razzaq. Wonder how many XIs get picked before he appears. Shame Klusener exists (not really).

Gilchrist opening + Flintoff at 6 is a terrible idea. Simultaneously making the top order shakier and shortening the middle order. 10 extra runs from the tail is supposed to make up for a) a reliable opening partnership, b) McGrath and c) a proper #6/chase specialist.

You're free to be catastrophically wrong about the first picked bowler in this exercise but your team composition is a fundamentally terrible idea.

Yeah. SA had Duminy and AB as their 5th and 6th bowlers, while NZ had Corey Anderson 5th, Grant Elliot 6th, and Kane 7th.

Anyway, it is a good side that has been picked but strange that McGrath is the only Australian in it. If we picked a 2nd XI there would be at least 5 or 6 of them.

Mcgrath doesn't deserve to be here. Garner and Pollock are a pick before him and why u need him when have both of them in your team.

Would have gone for Kapil or Klusener if there was an extra bowling option that was good but in the absence of them Pollock is an easy pick
