Nope. No WC finals even.Hansie was better than Dhoni!

If that's the case than Ponting is a better captain than Dhoni...he won 2 ICC WC.Nope. 1986-87, which WI won actually. But Dhoni has won an ICC WC as captain. That’s the main tournament
Records are useless without contextWe are not talking about ifs and buts...the record says it all!
There is no need for Dhoni in ATG XI if he is not captaining. Gilchrist is the better keeper bat.Dhoni as captain will go into tuktuk mode. Best to keep him free of any responsibility. Richards for captain.
Dhoni was never known for his keeping.Nope. Dhoni is a better keeper to spinners. Especially if you are going to play Murali +/- Saqlain. Dhoni is a better ODI bat than Gilchrist too.
Still he was able to read Murali, where as Gilchrist whacked it on length. Saqlain would be still more difficult to read, and Gilchrist was never good against him, once again, sweep on length policy.Dhoni was never known for his keeping.
I don't know what batting strategy has to do with wicketkeeping.Still he was able to read Murali, where as Gilchrist whacked it on length. Saqlain would be still more difficult to read, and Gilchrist was never good against him, once again, sweep on length policy.
While i agree with the first, this is not true at all. Dhoni was great for a short period of time then became ****. Dhoni S/R is extremely bad compared to Gilchrist when we adjust for the era they batted in. Dhoni's average flatters him because of the era and the position he batted in . I would much rather prefer a 30 ball 40 from Gilchrist at the top than a 50 ball 45 from Dhoni in the last 15 overs.Nope. Dhoni is a better keeper to spinners. You should have watched the supertest in 2006, the way Boucher behind the wicket, was struggling against Murali. Missed few stumping chance or two because he simply could not read Murali. And that is exactly how he played too. Mow to the leg on length.I don't know what batting strategy has to do with wicket keeping.
If you want a 30 ball 40, Jayasuriya is the man, He can bowl, and one of the elite filders too. Jayasuriya + Dhoni is a better player combination than Gilchrist + some middle order bat on face value. While i agree with the first, this is not true at all. They should've picked McCullum in the SuperTest. He was named in the original squad and was a much better keeper than Boucher. You should have watched the supertest in 2006, the way Boucher behind the wicket, was struggling against Murali. Sangakkara was there, and kept superbly in ODIs. He should have kept in tests too. Way better bat than Boucher or McCullum. They should've picked McCullum in the SuperTest. He was named in the original squad and was a much better keeper than Boucher.
Yes, he was a much better bat. P Jayawardene was a much better keeper though.Sangakkara was there, and kept superbly in ODIs. He should have kept in tests too. Way better bat than Boucher or McCullum.
I am talking about the ODIs of Australia vs ROW. Kept like a dream. And yes PJ was better, but it is not the discussion.Yes, he was a much better bat. P Jayawardene was a much better keeper though.
gilchrist + flintoff looks tempting solves the 5th bowler problem alsoIf you want a 30 ball 40, Jayasuriya is the man, He can bowl, and one of the elite filders too. Jayasuriya + Dhoni is a better player combination than Gilchrist + some middle order bat on face value.
Have you not seen that you've got Garnet at 10?gilchrist + flintoff looks tempting solves the 5th bowler problem also

Murali/Warne
Better than any other ATG XI combos anyone can think of.
Could bat till 9. Still undecided on whether Warne batting could mke up for Murali's slightly better bowling.
